The team you work with
Cons
Top management never happy everything is about results and managing people who do the smallest things wrong . Some managers don't even know the names of the staff that work in store , I've seen regional managers make manager and staff cry .

Working at next
Jan 10, 2016 - Team Coach in Merry Hill, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good bonus's / rewards Shifts are put on market place for people to select meaning everyone has a fair chance getting extra hours Supportive colleagues
Cons
Ridiculous hours especially over Christmas period - the 5 am sale Favouritism and no fair selection process regarding promotions

Pros
I love working at next. The people I work for are all friendly and it's like an extended family. The managers are also lovely and will help you as much as they can with anything. I love being able to do different jobs as well. I am contracted to work on the shop floor but also help with delivery and parcels. You are kept up to date with training whenever something changes. There's so many skills you can learn and different jobs to do.
Cons
Working so mcuh over Christmas and not having a Christmas. Especially when you have young children. Shame it's not like other companies where you work Christmas eve OR boxing not both. Also how the working wardrobe is done and the full amount of what you buy is taken off your allowance including the 25% you are paying for. The 25% you pay shouldn't be taken off your allowance.

Jan 3, 2020 - Sales Assistant in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
People are normally fun in each location and I got away with being late a lot
Cons
Wage are horrific. People get caught up in gossip etc and I dont believe they really ever paid e my overtime
Thank you your review. It is great to hear you got on with your team and that your managers had trust in you. Our salaries are reviewed regularly and are competitive to other retailers in our industry. Please feel free to discuss your wages with our payroll department so that we can confirm that your overtime has been paid.

Hard work and getting harder!
Sep 7, 2018 - Sales Manager in Manchester, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Some lovely people to work with Incredibly motivated Managers 25% discount Uniform allowance
Cons
Fewer staff expected to maintain high levels of customer service Steady reduction of terms and conditions e.g. no extra pay for bank holidays (even Boxing day), no extra pay for Sunday working Compulsory to work Boxing day and other holiday times such as around easter No consideration of flexible working for managers. Staff can swap shifts on line. insufficient time allowed to train new starters Very flat management structure after several years of restructuring making it difficult for people to progress Productivity rates extremely high in some stores leading to stressed out staff with little job satisfaction

Pros
You get to meet some nice people and make some lifetime friends as well as a lot of enemies. There are flexible working hours which suit students or those with commitments i.e. families
Cons
Where do I start? Next have been so insensitive with health issues that I have had. Issues which I could seek legal advice against the company, which I haven't. I spoke to management many times about the issue, including area managers who dealt with it once and once alone. There were times I was left crying on the shop floor. But was still given long shifts and late night shifts which would involve lots of heavy lifting - all stuff my surgeons have specifically asked me not to do. Management at my store were very rude, speaking down to me a lot of the time. There has been reports also of times where they have been able to over-ride the system and make sure that we are paid less for overtime we do. I have also been dragged down the stairs by my arm by one of the managers at my store.
