It was a good experience overall, however I understand why so many people dislike the company.
Oct 27, 2014 - Sales Consultant in Newbury, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The pros of working for Next include the employee discount as well as the opportunity to earn more money through customer experience bonuses and providing good service in general. From the other reviews I've read, I can see that your experience at Next depends entirely on the management. Therefore one of the pros of working here for me was the management. They were very understanding and patient when it came to training as well as availability when it came to shifts.
Cons
The cons to working here are the hours during sale periods as they can vary from rather late nights to very early mornings. The pay is not all that great either.

Pros
Good supports in place Lots of branches for experience Interconnected for better support Lots of training opportunities
Cons
Experience can be ruined by bad upper management
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Majority of the staff are freindly and really welcoming Pay rate is okay Lots of opportunity for overtime The employee website makes it easy to switch or give up shifts There are always little things you can do to earn a little extra money They are genuinely really passionate and commuted to providing excellent customers service
Cons
The managers are awful You are not allowed to socialise with other members of staff Christmas temps are basically hired to do everyone else's jobs for them If you are hired in the sale season your training is really basic and you aren't thought how to do stuff properly

Pros
Lots of young staff and a very friendly environment. Also very fast paced so you have to be able to deal with pressure, always busy, lots of overtime available as well and you can swap shifts or give your shifts up so easily. Great job for students as hours are really flexible.
Cons
Sales - Nightmare doing boxing day and summer sales! Low progression in the company though and training can be a bit haphazard at times.

Best decision I’ve ever made
Jan 21, 2019 - Store Manager in Dundrum, DublinRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The People.Customers and staff .Ive worked for a few big name retailers before and Next is by far the best company to work for. Their support for all areas of the business from AM’s to Store Managers to the staff is outstanding. Training is vital for any staff member Or manager and they invest time into everyone. They never do anything flippantly and every decision is people or brand focused. Best decision that I was lucky enough to ever make was to join next and I can see a long career with Next.
Cons
System Issues with rfid.Huge benefit to the business but can be slightly frustrating when it doesn’t work correctly from the start. Invest more staff into supporting customer service during Christmas time which will benefit customers and at store level so stores can focus more time on customers.

Pros
Easy to pick up shifts and take on extra work
Cons
Breaks are often missed because people can’t cover your area Training consists of staring at a till screen for hours. Management doesn’t know who there teams are.

Decent working hours, no other pros
Cons
No helpful training involved and the training they gave me was unorganised and not directed in my place of work. My manager was quite rude and didn't help me at all. Would never recommend.

Poor management
Oct 30, 2018 - Sales Consultant in Bristol, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
25% off Next clothing after four weeks of service.
Cons
- No rota (so you just go with the flow and do a bit of everything). - No training plan (How can you develop and progress if there isn't any consistent training plan and feedback given) - Pay is one of the lowest in retail (Min wage) - Colleagues are awarded via star ratings. If you are 4 stars and above, you get to choose your pick of overtime.

Friendly and warm atmosphere, clean working environment. Thorough training provided at the start and coaching afterwards to ensure you’re 100% confident. Best colleagues ever! And 25% discount, quarterly bonus and employee perks!
Cons
Really really busy, can be stressful. High staff turnover (people use it as a starting off job or don’t pay 100% attention to their work)
