I have been working at NHS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love getting stuck in with the medical side of the job and knowing I am making a direct positive impact on people in need!

    Cons

Hard to get the annual leave you need, and working in the community for the NHS can often make you feel very vulnerable and unsupported (in my role anyway!)

    Pros

The job is fulfilling. The team are terrific and the vast majority of colleagues are very committed to a common goal of good patient care and supporting the organisation.

    Cons

The organisation is of neccessity politically responsive and this can take precedence of the needs of patients and the wellbeing of staff. The organisation demonstrates little memory for contributions over and above the norm but is rigid and at times draconian regarding HR issues. This often results in disillusionment and anxiety regarding thinking outside the box and innovation

    Advice to Management

Pay lip service to politicians and protect and develop your staff rather than the other way round which tends to pertains at present. Senior management need to be much more supportive of their junior colleagues during these challenging times.

I have been working at NHS (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The Patients and personal job satisfaction

    Cons

Bullying, Over paid layers of managment

    Advice to Management

Stop bullying and then hiding behind HR who then continue the job for you. Please feel free to train as either a Doctor or a Nurse if you wish. It is not as easy as you might think.
