I worked at NHS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Able to make a difference. Patient care. Ability to lead and take responsibility for important decisions. Medicine is endlessly fascinating

    Cons

Rubbish pay particularly at junior levels. Chronic understaffing means you are often required to do the job of 3 or 4 people, work far beyond your expected hours and patient safety can be compromised by this, which is frustrating and demoralising

I have been working at NHS full-time

    Pros

Facilitates training. Its core goal of providing treatment for all, whatever the patient's background or capacity to pay, is a noble one.

    Cons

Increasingly fewer resources. Recent contention regarding Mid-Staffs, poor funding for social care, the bed crisis etc.

    Advice to Management

Reorganisation, innovation, and care and regard for staff. More focus on developing leadership skills among doctors and nurses, starting at an early stage of training.
