    Pros

    Work life balance is good.

    Cons

People are treated like dirt. Communication is horrible. Most Management do not know how to manage, they need to be taught how to be a manager.

    Advice to Management

    Get your act together

I worked at NJVC (More than a year)

    Pros

None to mention as company is being disbanded.

    Cons

Due to recent contract losses, NJVC is being "absorbed" by it's parent corporation, Chenega. Employees given very little notice and no assistance in finding new roles or employment transition. Even the HR department is being terminated .. so they're not exactly friendly or helpful.

    Advice to Management

Openly communicate with employees. They are the reason you win new work .. failure to communicate is why you lost work.

I have been working at NJVC as a contractor

    Pros

High salary and you can find some great people in the trenches.

    Cons

No direction, no leadership, no future.

    Advice to Management

Stop cutting the workforce and start cutting your friends. 4 cuts in 2 years - zero VP's and above.

    Cons

Management is after one thing: Money
Employees are after one thing: Money
HR is paid to lie to you about everything.

    Advice to Management

Clean up HR and the lies.

    Pros

Great government client, hard working individual contributors, and pay but all for a price. Your blind eye and ignorance to the dishonesty.

    Cons

Treats their client like a cash cow. Its never about the non management employees or the execs get the big bucks, rewards and perks. Unfair practice in hiring and promotions. Not what you know but its who you know. Lots of unethical activities. The government watch dog would investigate them. Though they are an American Native company, no money ever makes it back to the Chenega people. HMMMM...illegal

Its better to be unemployed and live in a tent then work for them.

    Advice to Management

The CEO should be fired along with all current SVP and VPs. Too many extremely comfortable fat cows and little ambition or hunger to fix or grow the company. ITs like a dying horse..time to make glue..

    Pros

Very nice people to work with.
    Good commute
    Nice building
    Low stress environment
If you set your standards low enough, you will not be disappointed. Lots of nepotism, which normally would result in people doing a poor job, but in this case, since many people don't do much, the performance measurements make them look good.

    Cons

    Horribly expensive benefits
Management insists we come to work most every day.
    Zero promotion possibility
Forced to do work with no guidance
If you are a high performer, coming here is risky, because you might get labelled as a busy-body. Another risk comes from when you try to find another job, because few companies will hire you.

    Advice to Management

    Enjoy it while it lasts.

I have been working at NJVC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of time to visit with friends
    Low workload
Offsite management means very little supervision

    Cons

Sometimes I have too much time on my hands so I research vacation resorts, which makes me sleepy.
People expect me to work even when I don't feel like it.

    Advice to Management

There really isn't any management. They are more like administrators. Certainly not leaders. Advice: Don't change a thing! I like having free time at work.

I worked at NJVC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a job to go to. Work location is good.

    Cons

Worst managers I have ever seen especially when I have come from the military and a better work environment. They use the buddy system to promote and act like they do not have any other employees who would qualify. Most of the managers or seniors have no training or education. You don't even need a bachelors and as long as you have held a job for a few years , that qualifies you for management. The managers are unprofessional and gossip and spread rumors. Most of the departments run in a clique. It's not worth it and it's too many other companies who are more professional and when the cuts they just did for 2014 your ay is going to be peanuts for the work if you want to work here. RUN!!!!

    Advice to Management

Stop using the buddy system to promote employees and "really" look at the skillset that each employee has before you promote and offer it to more than one employee than your best freiend and then you may be able to be a real company and hold a contract.

I worked at NJVC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Salary and benefits are on the high end for the industry.

    Cons

Senior Leadership must have a plan, right? Unfortunately, I don't think it involves growth of the company or concern for employees. How long will it take Chenega to pull the plug and replace the incompetence? It really doesn't matter because it is too late now. When they fail to win the recompetes of their sole source contracts, NJVC will slowly fade into existence just as sister company CTSC is doing now.

    Advice to Management

    Why bother? They don't listen.

I have been working at NJVC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If placed on primary contract, there is a very good opportunity to make a higher salary than many competitors will offer.

    Cons

Consistently decreasing benefits, elitist attitude by senior management, ineptitude allowed to remain on primary cost plus contract to sustain revenue, morale low among employees as the acceptance that company will not last beyond primary contract has become commonplace.

    Advice to Management

Require all leadership to work full-time at headquarters, work to make employees feel as though you care about someone other than your wallet.
