    Pros

Small company appeal. Employees are treated fairly for the most part. Flexibility is one of its key attributes for sure.

    Cons

Downsizing has been a problem over the past few years and benefits have been cut pretty drastically unfortunately. A definite downside.

    Advice to Management

Do not skimp on quality of service during contract negotiations. Remember you pay for what you get. If you buy cheap service then your customer will receive cheap service.

    Pros

Relationships with the Customer and support of Chenega parent company.

    Cons

    Male supported sexist environment
    Salary disparity
Upper management on site has no backbone and pacifist mentality

    Advice to Management

Address the issues presented to you before someone decides they have had enough and sues the company for negligence, hostile work environment, sexual and racial discrimination as well as the lack of moral and ethical fortitude.

    Pros

The company has recently experience a leadership change which is very positive. The company now has a vision for the future. Company has won new contracts recently which ensures the future as well.

    Cons

The company had to recently (last three years) cut some benefits which were very lucrative. Although it is tough to loose something we are now where other companies are in our similar industry.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at recent PTO policy and in lieu of cash value perhaps you could add (accrue) at higher non-cash rates.

I have been working at NJVC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunities for training, and the ability to grow professionally is great. Along with that NJVC seems to reward their employees for doing a job well done. Hard work is definitely noticed, and rewarded.

    Cons

Like most defense contractors NJVC is always under pressure to perform well, while maintaining costs low. There is really just one big contract that NJVC currently has, and it is coming to an end. Attrition is just a nature of the beast in the DoD contracting community.

    Advice to Management

Keep rewarding employees that go above and beyond what is required.

I worked at NJVC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - NJVC gave me great opportunities to advance in my career. I will always be thankful to them.
    - The people are great.

    Cons

The business development group wasn't held accountable for missing their targets. This put a lot of pressure on the rest of the company and had a negative impact on the culture.

    Advice to Management

Be open to subcontracting and teaming with other companies. It might not be the most profitable but it will allow you to get into other agencies.
