I have been working at NJVC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Exceptional compensation package and endless opportunities for hard workers.

    Cons

The fact that benefits have drastically diminished as our 15 year contract comes to a close is trumped by the fact that we are now struggling for company viability. Utter failure of Business Development.

I worked at NJVC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity for hard workers, enabling accelerated career growth.

    Cons

The leadership at the highest levels of this company is a train wreck. They are not competitive in the market, and the new contracts that they do win, they can't staff due to a limited talent pool and limited rates. There are some very good mid level managers that have their stuff together, but it's irrelevant when the upper management won't listen to the guys in the weeds. Good luck NJVC, and pull you heads out of the hole.

    Advice to Management

Listen to you mid level managers. You might win some work.

    Pros

Everyone was incredibly helpful to me when I first started.

    Cons

No sense of direction. Working on-site as a contractor didn't have a clear supervisor or direction of work.

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

    Some very smart people
Some fun people, as long as you're OK with military attitudes

    Cons

Some people have really bad attitudes toward their work and their coworkers
Very strong who-you-know atmosphere, which is common in US gov contracting
High-level security clearances are a huge pain, and getting worse

    Advice to Management

Company might be too dependent on a single client. Finding some way to differentiate yourself or reduce costs without losing quality is going to become increasingly important.

I have been working at NJVC full-time

    Pros

Competitive salary/benefits, opportunity to move to other roles/locations, hands-off management, and good people working with and around you, good environment and customers to support.

    Cons

You are expected to learn what you need on your own (little to no training). Currently not enough potential for the company to be viable and competitive in the IT service industry for the long-term.
