I worked at NORDAM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, some great employees to work with.

    Cons

You are expected to work lots of overtime while your managers and lead enjoy family time. Management and leads seem to run the good employees off. I know several managers who should be terminated.

    Advice to Management

Meredith needs to watch the management and leads better. Management cost the company millions cause of bad leadership.

I worked at NORDAM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Vacation time, decent benefits, and it's a job…

    Cons

No career growth, no merit, extremely resistant to change, management, leadership, uncertainty of job security, communication, and the good ole boy system

    Advice to Management

Ownership/family need to be more involved with the day-to-day life on the shop floor! There also needs to be follow through with what is being conveyed from middle-management to mechanics. There also needs to be a hard look at the middle level management to make sure that they are actually being beneficial to the company. HR needs to realize that their employees are assets to the company; not just a number. This used to be an excellent place to work!!! But now it is lackluster.

I worked at NORDAM full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible working hours. Great benefits. Management lets you do your job. I was able to ask my piers for advice.
The work environment was very serious although I wouldn’t count that as a negative.

    Cons

My supervisor was very hard to please and rude. I was not interviewed well enough for the position requirements. This is not an entry-level company. They require a star from day one with no training. If you are experienced and believe you can succeed with no training then Nordam may be for you. Otherwise, I would not recommend.

I worked at NORDAM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good atmospher. Nice management. Great way to start your life and earn good money. Its ah very safe building with great co workers. If you wanna grow this is a good way to start. And they also give you a chance to achieve your goals.

    Cons

The lay offs are the worst part about this industry. I learned that it can't be controlled. It's within the economy. If there are no million dollar sales for private and commercial airliners, then there will be not enough work for workers to build. But as long as the economy holds up and people fly more, then there will be sales and airliners to be built so that we can have stable jobs in the industry.

    Advice to Management

Keep it social and have more ethnic backgrounds wrkn for you. As time goes on and you remain in the working Feild I think that management should pay attention to the new culture that's forthcoming. It will help them to make better decisions on what they think about people. And not how they look or dress or talk. It's not always like that with managers. But it's just a suggestion.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

No stress atmosphere. Pay almost reasonable. Most general working relationships were good.

    Cons

Company acts like pay raises were under their seat and their butts were pinched too tight to release it to it's stakeholders. Too clickish! If you weren't one of the few that grew up together then you didn't advance. CEO is kept blind to what is really going on at the production level. Unlike the previous founder who knew executed a flawless business and employee respect. Lack of pre-qualified workers for most positions. They were trained on the job so if their trainer was wrong then guess what,,, their trainee was also wrong. QA hasn't any real idea of true quality control procedures except for one individual. She's really knowledgeable and informative. Kudos to her!!!
They rush with a program and remodel a whole section of the plant just to have their quota filled a year early and no need for the remodeling.
Everyone is so afraid to speak up for fear of being walked out. Management wouldn't last a day in the real world of management. Audits are performed like they were thought up in the 1800's.

    Advice to Management

Pull your heads out and quit thinking all money. People and attitudes make a company powerful not the dollar bill. With peoples and the right attitude comes quality and pride and with pride comes perfection which generates returned revenues and positive financial success. Think about it!

I worked at NORDAM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good workforce where most people try to do the right thing.

    Cons

Some lack to holding people accountable by management, and too many things swept under the rug instead of making improvements to prevent future issues. Environment where upper level management and executives held to a different standard than lower level employees. Similar situation to many privately-held companies. Absolutely NO bonus structure and horrible raises. No incentives for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Hold people to the policies and procedures instead of everything being treated as a one-off. Make announcements when people violate company policy to show it won't be tolerated instead of letting the "gossip train" spread rumors. Revamp incentive structure to give "stakeholders" and actual vested interest in the company being profitable. Hold management to same expectations as all other employees.

    Pros

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Operate with/continue to operate with integrity. Be fair to your team, constantly review the Servant Leadership qualities and strive to be that. If you have a beef, go to your management, or HR if you feel going to your leaders is inappropriate instead of fostering disengagement by discussing with your co-workers.
