The Quintessential "Good-Ole Boy" Company. Minorities Need Not Apply.
Aug 3, 2012 -RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Industry is doing well right now, so job security is not a great concern at this time. There are some good people here but they are disappointed with management. They are merely collecting a paycheck with no heart or spirit behind their jobs. No other positives.
Cons
This is the most unprofessional company I have ever worked for. Constant reorganization due to upper management political games creates disillusionment for lower and mid-level employees. Unless you are a Caucasian, your chances for leadership positions and/or promotions are extremely limited in this 'good-ole boy' organization. Promotions are based on who you know rather than skills and qualifications. And because leadership positions are based on who you know rather than what you know, systems and processes are broken as most management tends to be incompetent.

Good place to work
Sep 14, 2016 - Mechanical Engineer in Orange, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The Orange facility has a family-like environment. It has a very diverse group of people. Upper management is approachable and easy to get along with. Supervisors and managers are good at mentoring the younger groups.
Cons
The opportunity to move up in position/title. It is a small group and there are not many openings since people there stay for the long run.

Planning Manager - Manufacturing
Mar 2, 2016 - Planning Manager in Conroe, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good people that worked hard, often with lack of valuable direction and support from upper echelons of management.
Cons
Lacked executive level support for the lower and middle level managers and employees. Expectations were never fully declared and upper management was disconnected from the issues faced at the lower levels.

Quality Inspector II
Aug 17, 2015 - QUality Inspector II in Conroe, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
NOV is a large company.
Cons
Nov is a large company with no mentoring for career advancement. No bonus structure for hard working employees. No career advancement. HR is poorly trained in hiring skilled employees. Upper management is poorly skilled in structure and holding accountability for their errors in better business sense and lack of leader ship.

Pros
Great benefits! You are fully vested once you get hired on. Everyone is a team player and contributes equally. Most of management is really helpful.
Cons
Seems like you have to know someone to advance in position or be a minion to upper management. Even though you work really hard, people who do favors for management move up faster.
