I worked at NOVO Construction full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Novo understands the importance of company culture. They have a beautiful office with a very positive working environment. They really do go out of their way to engage all the employees. You can look forward to many happy hours to get to know co workers, as well as in-office lunches for birthdays and holidays here and there. Everyone has the same opportunity to work hard and get recognized/accepted by BOTH their peers and management. Flexible and accommodating. Great people!

    Cons

No cons about this company. In response to former reviews: Nobody has to fit in or be in the "in crowd". That is absurd.

I worked at NOVO Construction full-time

    Pros

    Independent work practices.

    Cons

Squeaky wheel doesn't work when upper management has favorites. If you aren't one of the chosen buddies who go to vegas trips, spring training, or other social events then you are just another guy just doing your job. Once you speak up watch out because you will get your throat cut.

    Advice to Management

Take care of everyone who contributes day in and day out even the non cliquish employees because the are really looking out for the best interest of the company.

    Pros

A lot of fun people to work with. They all know each other (College Buddies)

    Cons

When I worked there, there was a lot of gossip going on. The senior managers didn't want anything to do with it so they let it happen which affects everyone. This place is all about who is cool and popular. You can have all the talent, but you better fit in. The "cool" people get to work 32 hours a week, free vegas trips, golf games, SF parties, etc. You better go if you fit in, it won't matter if you are married and have children. The PM's never game me clear direction, but when things went wrong, I took the heat. The main Principal of the company is a total snob.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to be the "Coolest" GC in the Bay Area, no one cares.

    Pros

Perks - Game tickets, networking opportunities, learn from experience

    Cons

Over worked and underpaid. Old school of thought when it comes to project management and technology. Low tech. People still get mad at the fax machines.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the people and technogy that will save you time/money and allow for sustainable growth.

    Pros

Management makes sure you're not just another cog in the machine. They take care of their people- both with work that keeps us interested and "start-up" type perks like snacks, even health and wellness training. Can't say enough about the people- they're top notch!

    Cons

You get out what you put in. Work hard and you'll learn a lot and move up. Do the minimum and you'll probably stay put.

    Advice to Management

    Increase interaction between internal teams
