I have been working at NTN Bearing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are good and so is the vacation hours. Plenty of over time available. That's all the positive things I have to say

    Cons

    Mandatory 6 day work week.

90% of employees don't even speak good English

    Supervisors choose favorites

    Very under staffed

The company never seems to get rid of anyone no matter how bad you mess up.

    Advice to Management

Fire those who can't do the job right!

I have been working at NTN Bearing full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Plenty of OT if seeking it. Decent pay for the Elgin area. 2 weeks off for Christmas/new years as well as other holidays off, it's a respected company for the most part.

    Cons

Management is terrible. Night shift leaders are sexist, make open racist remarks, and cater to their favorites. The leaders are never to be found on the nightshift because they are in their offices all night or on smoke breaks. management bullies and manipulates their employees and there is no trust in management at all, and they cover for one another if there is a dispute with an employee. The management will cover their behinds by all means and will throw you under the bus so fast you won't know what happened. if you have family or kids, you can forget this place, they don't care about that, they will tell you about a mandatory shift the day before your expected to work it.

    Advice to Management

Better training for your shift leaders, many of them don't even know the basic policies and have poor leadership skills.

I worked at NTN Bearing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good benefits, mostly nice people.

    Cons

Way too internally and appearance focused. More concerned with weekly reports to sr. mgt. (which are forwarded to Japan), than customers. Category (bearings) is a commodity, and despite what they say, it all comes down to price. Theirs is too high.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on your customers.

I worked at NTN Bearing full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Close to home, ok pay, good insurance and vacation time. A place that does seem to stick around.

    Cons

Many, typical non union butt kissing to get anywhere type of job, Japanese owned. Filthy place unless you are in the office.

    Advice to Management

Quit hiring inept, uneducated foreign idiots for management and supervision. After my time there should have been no reason for letting me go.

I have been working at NTN Bearing full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As an operator, you have plenty of opportunities for overtime. 12 days on, 2 days off. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Upper management mentality that proves that they believe that they are still in Japan and not the US. Upper management, both Japanese and American, do not consider input from employees even they have a suggestion program. Currently experiencing an 60-80% turn over rate for hourly employees, and a 30-40% turn over rate of salary employees.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees with decision making responsibilities to make improvements that have been suggested and proven in other environments. Use your employee's previous experiences and award them for their efforts instead of singling out and harassing them.
