Good people, lots of change

Great people to work with, my manager was amazing, focus on doing what's right for kids is the forefront of everything. Very flat hierarchy given the size, with access to executives on a somewhat casual basis, which can be a pro or con depending on how you see it. I saw it as a good, as it increases transparency.
Cons
Politics abound, reorganizations never seem to stop, confusion about general direction in certain departments.

Pros
Top notch team members who care about education and helping all kids learn. Great benefits.
Cons
I can’t really think of any. We are busy, but the work is interesting and enjoyable.

Pros
NWEA has a great mission focused on kids and learning. Doesn't get much better than that. it is an organization filled with bright (and brilliant) caring professionals who want to do great work and make a difference in Education. It is a nice place to work and having worked for a number of companies that is a high compliment. Great benefits, amazing colleagues and competitive pay. It is an organization that strives to treat it's staff as well as it's customers and that is rare in many organizations (sad to say). The Human Resources team is top-notch and one of the best I have ever seen and is there for employees and management alike. I have a great boss and work with amazing people. Definitely one of the best employers in Portland.
Cons
At times there is a lack of focus because there are so many things the organization wants to achieve that at times it is like all the priorities are number 1 and this dilutes effectiveness and results. In the past there has been a fair amount of going after "bright shiny objects," but I can now say that the last two years or more the leadership has gotten focused and clearer on our strategies and goals. The current executive team is the best I have seen in my tenure with the organization.

Cons
None that I can think of

Pros
Some great people that want to do right by schools and kids. You can have a work/life balance (but it’s because you don’t really have to put in a full day.)
Cons
Lives under the “we do it for the kids” tag line, but it’s the most political, unorganized, and passive aggressive place I’ve worked. The toxicity is suffocating. Incompetent staff and awful managers are allowed to keep their jobs and high pay. The Sr. management is having turf wars foe control and the CEO is silent. I’m not sure they realize it’s visible to the rank and file. People are leaving quickly. The ship is sinking. There is no room for growth. Most promotions are given and jobs are not open to applications.
