I worked at NYSE full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    * Great compensation (base + cash bonus + equity award), especially for more recent hires * Conveniently-located, recently-updated, well-protected office in the historic building * Small gift handouts from listing companies

    Cons

    * Toxic company culture and values with much finger-pointing and brown-nosing * Stale technology stack with not much automation and slowly-moving SDLC * High level of technical debt and significant production support load * Poor work-life balance with absolutely no telecommuting

    Advice to Management

First, make people your top priority by training your mid-level management and by relaxing some office policies like "no WFH". Second, invest into organic growth projects instead of relying on external acquisitions (to boost revenues) and cutting costs (to trim expenses). Finally, stop starving out Chicago and San Francisco offices.

    Managing Director in Wilton, CT

I worked at NYSE for more than 5 years

    Pros

The sense of cultural history and camaraderie among floor personnel was a compelling reason to come to work each day. Visits from listed companies were also an enjoyable aspect of the job.

    Cons

Senior management seemed at times to relish the sense of fundamental insecurity that prevailed among employees. The future of the trading floor has long seemed to be up in the air, and rather than simply making a decision and communicating it openly and honestly, senior management often seemed to enjoy leveraging the uncertainty.

I have been working at NYSE

    Pros

Good atmosphere with some really good people to work with. Good benefits provided when you start. Overall nice office environment.

    Cons

The people who were there with seniority seemed to be clique-ish. It seemed like there was no room for professional growth. For a small company it seemed big, not a lot of interaction between departments.

    Advice to Management

Work on team building and get senior management more involved with all employees. This place could have been awesome if the atmosphere was better.
