I have been working at NYSE full-time

    Pros

The NYSE is an iconic brand and provides access to unique experiences. Employees are smart, hardworking, and proud to walk through the doors of the NYSE every day.

    Cons

Morale is incredibly low as fear rules and leadership provides very little transparency into objectives or decision-making. A once collegial culture has become very competitive and unfriendly as employees are increasingly insecure regarding their futures. Creativity, collaboration and energy have been replaced by weariness and dysfunction across the organization.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with, listen to and pay attention to your employees. An us vs. them mentality pervades the organization, and there is a real opportunity to better harness the value of both new and legacy staff. Your employees work exceptionally hard but feel undervalued.

I have been working at NYSE (More than a year)

    Pros

Relatively good work/life balance, good working environment, nice colleagues, and nice physical office space. Good place to start a career and learn about financial technology and operations

    Cons

Lots of processes and strategy changing after the merger with Intercontinental Exchange. Also pretty significant personnel turnover, but I think it is settling down now.

    Advice to Management

Make it clear to employees what their potential career track could be. Infuse some younger people into the departments, especially in New York. Continue to ensure that the cultures of NYSE and ICE are integrating.

    I worked at NYSE full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, great culture, great values, prestigious environment. A place I was proud to say I worked at.

    Cons

Market fragmentation often made the environment volatile for an old exchange. While company did a good job changing with the times, it was near inevitable that a disruptive yet successful exchange such as ICE had to come in to clean up the mess.
