I worked at NYSE full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

At the center of the economic activity; but not the Economy. Certainly feeling every pulse of it.

    Cons

Although, by far, not the Regular company it did have a captive business and was unable to adapt to monumental disruptions in regulation, technology, markets, economy, terrorist attacks, products, and globalization.

    Advice to Management

Under new management; although, many don't know it. New management is ruthless; but, savvy.

I worked at NYSE (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The sense of cultural history and camaraderie among floor personnel was a compelling reason to come to work each day. Visits from listed companies were also an enjoyable aspect of the job.

    Cons

Senior management seemed at times to relish the sense of fundamental insecurity that prevailed among employees. The future of the trading floor has long seemed to be up in the air, and rather than simply making a decision and communicating it openly and honestly, senior management often seemed to enjoy leveraging the uncertainty.

I worked at NYSE as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly environment filled with motivated hard working people. Summer Fridays. Fellow colleagues were very willing to help with anything you might need & help you learn the business.

    Cons

Majority of the people working there were Men. Unfortunately when I was an Intern they were not looking to continue the program due to being acquired.

    Advice to Management

Reintroduce the Intern program for current college students to give them the opportunity to lean the business in a landmark setting.

    Pros

Outstanding coworkers in technology and finance. Coworkers are generally very supportive of your development.

Too many legacy systems from prior consolidation. This tends to create a bottleneck during busy season.
