I have been working at NYU Langone Medical Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I am surrounded by extremely smart, professional people. The core benefits are excellent and HR has done a tremendous job of adding cool "lifestyle" benefits like discounts. It definitely feels like we're on a good trajectory as we will be opening a new, state-of-the-art hospital soon.

    Cons

Salaries and compensation fall behind. We very frequently get outbid and have to resort to "salary isn't the most important thing" to try and recruit or retain staff

    Advice to Management

Be more pro-active in reviewing salaries. It feels like we react only when the market has left us behind already.

I have been working at NYU Langone Medical Center (Less than a year)

    Pros

great benefits, huge PTO allowance, good health care options.

    Cons

limited federal holidays, hospital employees are 'essential' requiring you to be at work regardless of weather, etc. even if the role itself isn't essential.

    Advice to Management

Rethink how you structure the school's employees within the hospital.

Not many females in leadership at the hospital- a lot of older white men.
