I worked at NYU (New York University) full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The work place is very inclusive. You will see diversity everywhere. You're also not overworked. You'll almost never be stuck doing work past 5 pm. Tuition remission is a big plus.

    Cons

You have to work at least a year to benefit from tuition remission. Some parts of the job can be robotic.

I have been working at NYU (New York University) full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Tuition Remission (but not tax-free)

    Cons

All departments are required to have staff in the office whether or not all of their courses and events are online, despite requests from Department Chairs who see no reason for employees to be put at risk. Administrative staff must travel on public transit to sit alone in empty offices, even though faculty were given the option to be work virtually or in-person. Organizationally, NYU is a nightmare. Getting an answer about anything (from the finance department, registrars office, etc.) can take weeks and sometimes you never get a response. If you do get a response, it can differ depending on the person you get in contact with. Furthermore, the technical systems they have in place are inefficient and dated. The overall issue is that employees at NYU are overworked and underpaid, and staff aren't given the resources they need. It's shocking that the high cost of attending NYU does not improve the working conditions of the staff that keep the school running.

I worked at NYU (New York University) full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Tuition Remission on many part-time degrees (100% off tuition) - 20+ Vacation Days, and off between Xmas and New Years

    Cons

    - High turnover - Not much career growth. - Leaders, with minimal experience in the for-profit world, trying to run a non-profit in a way they think it is done in the for-profit world - Salaries less than equivalent jobs at other NY and out-of-state universities
