I have been working at NYU Winthrop Hospital part-time (More than 10 years)
Pros
Close Knit with coworkers, work well together, Close to train station
If you have been there for many years you can change your schedule easily to adjust a school schedule I've been FT, PT, PD and have taken leaves for medical conditions for both myself and my family
NYU has come to save us from a business standpoint which hopefully facilitates Pt. care
Cons
No room for advancement, Lower paying, New Staff in every discipline get paid more than those that have been there longer, ANM's cause more problems than helping facilitate Pt. care, a little disorganized
You do end up paying more for insurance if you are PT or PD then you make which is not conducive when you have to shell out copays, coinsurances, and pay for medications that the hospital doesn't carry, dental plan and vision plans are not good
Advice to Management
Try new methods ask the Pt. for their input, maybe take a lesson on how to do your job better.(like from a professional job coach)...listen to your staff and try out those ideas.....
