I have been working at NYU Winthrop Hospital part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Family oriented, excellent Pt. satisfaction, small PEDS ED, Child Life Program, encourages continuing education, good hiring from the "inside", more recently from the "outside", reasonable accommodations when out for a LOA, Salary is fair for non RN postitions, we get alot of Pt's who receive continuous/frequent care so you get to know the neighbors! This gives it a more personal touch! Excellent classes and knowledge of what to do in a disastrous casualty. You definitely learn alot, apply, and are encouraged/motivated to continue education.

    Cons

Small hospital, Small Cafe VERY LIMITED CHOICES! CAFE IS ALSO NOT OPEN LONG ENOUGH, THERE ISN'T ANYWHERE FOR STAFF TO GET COFFEE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, EVERYTHING AROUND IS CLOSED, if you want to lose your parking spot on your break, you can go to 7-11 ON Jericho Tpke.!
Short staffed, long wait times because we are a small facility, We have been GET HERE!.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, nursing students, need a little more push/pull with everything

I worked at NYU Winthrop Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some coworkers and benefits were great , and also the cafeteria was a good

    Cons

Management is atrocious at endo. The manager is trying to cut every penny (its not unusual that the office would run out of paper), there is no OT altho there is work piled up and worst of all, for everything you do above and beyond your duties you get reprimanded that its not your job to help coworkers. Our manager would get horrible results for every survey but nothing would change ,HR is pretty bad too

    Advice to Management

Direct management is pretty trash , senior level is doing the best they can

    Pros

Doctors, staff are all so professional and efficient. The hospital is clean, offices are clean. I would suggest if your looking for a great doctor or job great salary and benefits apply for a position at NYU Winthrop

    Cons

Honestly I never came across any challenges while working for the hospital. One thing i can say if your traveling by car during rush hour wether a patient or employee make sure to give yourself some extra time for travel..

Continue making a great impact with the staff.
