I have been working at NYU Winthrop Hospital part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Close Knit with coworkers, work well together, Close to train station
If you have been there for many years you can change your schedule easily to adjust a school schedule I've been FT, PT, PD and have taken leaves for medical conditions for both myself and my family
NYU has come to save us from a business standpoint which hopefully facilitates Pt. care

    Cons

No room for advancement, Lower paying, New Staff in every discipline get paid more than those that have been there longer, ANM's cause more problems than helping facilitate Pt. care, a little disorganized
You do end up paying more for insurance if you are PT or PD then you make which is not conducive when you have to shell out copays, coinsurances, and pay for medications that the hospital doesn't carry, dental plan and vision plans are not good

    Advice to Management

Try new methods ask the Pt. for their input, maybe take a lesson on how to do your job better.(like from a professional job coach)...listen to your staff and try out those ideas.....

I have been working at NYU Winthrop Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A great place to work. Surveys have shown that it is a top place to work and employee scores have increased over the years due to positive changes

    Cons

Some staff see the recent merger with NYU as a negative getting too large . With being surrounded with other systems, most see it as a positive, joining a top quality clinical provider and a financially stabile organization.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing the right thing

I worked at NYU Winthrop Hospital part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Small family environment, friendly staff

    Cons

Not many opportunities/ promotion for internal growth compared to other health systems

    Advice to Management

Great place to work, very cliquey due to small environment but they do love to keep affairs internal when you further your education etc. They will keep you

I worked at NYU Winthrop Hospital full-time

    Pros

Coworkers are nice to work with.

    Cons

They hire you as "per diem" but then work you full time, but use that title to consistently pay you less. A lot of the culture here is very much about "who you know". Despite your abilities or achievements, if the manager has a "favorite" they will get the postion over you. Not very fair.

    Advice to Management

    Let go of the favoritism

I worked at NYU Winthrop Hospital full-time

    Pros

Winthrop had fantastic insurance plans for its employees, and a lot of room for growth.

    Cons

stickler for tardiness. more than 1 minute late 3x a month will get you the red tape.

    Advice to Management

when buying out individual practices- do not look at them as if they are less that the hospital, but rather an extension of what values the hospital holds but in a more intimate setting.
