I worked at Nabors Industries full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You will get a ton of experience with Oracle, .NET, and SQL, plus learn all the business processes, because you'll be doing everyone else's work. Your manager (who will almost certainly be from India) will kindly relieve you of the burden of receiving any credit for your accomplishments.

    Cons

So many! HB1 applicants who can't understand anything or perform the basic functions of the job they were hired to do, constant undertones of politics/backstabbing, developers and analysts clawing over each other trying to gain favor with management, flagrant nepotism, unethical hiring practices, unrealistic expectations, lack of vision, lack of communication, lack of common sense. I could go on all day. This place is like working in a real-life Dilbert comic! Realized my mistake on day 1 and found another job ASAP.

    Advice to Management

Making the building look nice, rather than fixing the problems with the company really is the hallmark of where your priorities lie: status-symbols are more important than people.

Higher management is a joke. CIO lacks vision and unstable in making decision. Priorities keep changing making it hard to manage expectation.

Change the senior management and CIO

    Cons

Office politics, there will be people promoted before me who don't deserve it. They will only get it because they are liked not because of the quality of work.

    Pros

Professional and technical level people, along with first level management are great folks. I truly enjoyed working with a number of my colleagues

    Cons

mid level to upper management, along with executives pretty much kills that place. A good house cleaning is long overdue, particularly in IT.

    Advice to Management

    Fire yourselves.

    Pros

Great place to start you career. If you mingle with the correct people, you will have opportunities to learn and be promoted.

    Cons

Favoritism and nepotism are the only way to advance. Upper management is constantly looking for a scapegoat and someone to dump their work on which they will later take all the credit. No respect for each other and much less for their subordinates.

    Advice to Management

Give the jobs back to qualified personnel... If you survive this downturn.

I worked at Nabors Industries full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nabors offers good job security, if you play their game and by their rules

    Cons

Upper Management is very micro and downward managing. There is little trust in employees to make decisions, so all decisions are funneled through a few upper management roles. Examples of decisions that are made at a Senior Director or above level are if an employee get's a mouse pad, the desk that a employee occupies, office supplies, and what times meetings should be held.

    Advice to Management

Trust your managers to make decision in the best interest of the company. Give mangers and employees more freedom to think for themselves. Lastly, give truthful encouragement and accolades to employees that take pride in their work and further the companies goals.
