I worked at Nabors Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Plenty of work to stay busy, utilized most basic and some advanced office skills, good communication from upper management and home office, pleasant work environment. Challenging and rewarding to complete all tasks assigned and/or necessary to achieve desired results within acceptable time lines. Job safety is very important to the company. Worked within state and federal DOT guidelines. Worked at various office locations based on company needs, with other administrative assistants who were friendly, courteous and welcomed additional help.

    Cons

Low starting waged based on the many years of office management experience I possess, small annual raises- depending on the annual self evaluation and bottom line of the company.

    Advice to Management

When area managers recognize that they have in their employ a highly efficient, goal oriented office manager with a positive attitude and the willingness to commute to other field offices to support and assist other administrative assistants based on company needs, it should be expected that the company would reward that asset of a team leader with a more respectable wage.

    Pros

They have a good team of technical folks who want to do the right thing for the team and company.

    Cons

Higher management is a joke. CIO lacks vision and unstable in making decision. Priorities keep changing making it hard to manage expectation.

    Advice to Management

Change the senior management and CIO

    Pros

Opportunity. Company has plenty of home-grown applications that allow for quick changes.

    Cons

Management allowed to curse, degrade employees. Questionable hiring methods (unqualified friends before competence/experience).

    Advice to Management

Consider long term effects. Look at turnover rate. Statistics tell all.

I have been working at Nabors Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is reasonable for an entry level position. Benefits are reasonable but since the downturn, the company does not match 401K contributions.

    Cons

The company is very disorganized which causes confusion and distress, company wide.
Several projects are not implemented properly, no training is provided for these launches.
There are too many managers and not enough employees.

Also, we have received no raises in more than 3 years and this seems like it is not going to change for a while.

    Advice to Management

I would like to see a more cohesive and organized department that provides quality and professional services to our company and its subsidiaries.

    Pros

Great salary and benefits. Some training was available.

    Cons

Management shook things up, as far as individuals' responsibilities. One week, my responsibilities would be "this", the next week, my responsibilities would be "that".

    Advice to Management

Adhere to employees responsibilities, as set forth in the employee manual.

    Pros

I liked working with the people, management style in my department was relaxed, supportive and family oriented. The benefits were decent and I liked that they offered tuition reimbursement to their employees who are seeking to further their education.

    Cons

Very decentralized. Hard to get a decent raise after getting your foot in the door. Getting promotions depended on how well you were liked and typically hired externally instead of supporting growth internally. They are quick to do massive layoffs when the market suffers. Oil and gas industry is very cyclical and seem to go through economic down turns every 5-7 years.

    Advice to Management

Management should really learn their subordinates jobs instead of just delegating. This will help to better understand department workflow and their people doing the jobs. If Management is going to verbally promote open door policy, it should be followed up with an active approach

    Pros

No real expectations which can be nice at times. As long as I do my work I know I won't be bothered.

    Cons

Office politics, there will be people promoted before me who don't deserve it. They will only get it because they are liked not because of the quality of work.
