I worked at Nalco Energy Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Stable job with the opportunity to move up with time. The benefits included paid cell phone, company vehicle, and gas card.

    Cons

Regardless of the extra benefits, the salary was low compared to the other technician jobs in the region. One technician usually covered a substantial area, which you were also on call for daily. These calls generally were not compensated.

I have been working at Nalco Energy Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I joined the old Nalco Refinery Process Services in 1979 as a Tech Rep in Beaumont, TX. Over the years I was handed raises and promotions regularly without asking. I peaked as the Energy Services (general) Marketing Manager in Asia. In late 2012 took a fall, hit my head and became seriously disabled. The disability pay included my best year's commissions in their calculation of the 70% entitlement plus picking up virtually all the massive medical costs. Hard to beat.

    Cons

I had a wonderful 30+ years, met some life long friends, got travel through most of the US, Europe and Asia and made a good bundle of cash for my retirement when the time comes. The only negative I imagine is the crowding cause by the mergers with Ecolab and Champion. Nalco is building but until is ready there will be friendly elbowing in the lunch line.

    Advice to Management

Ecolab has largely improved the justified bragging and positive, proactive communication with our friends. As a suggestion, I would spread the authorship of webinars further down the chain below senior management. spread it horizontally as well. During the merger I had the opportunity to get to know finance and stock holder relations; much to my delight. You will work hard here but it is with friends and you will make money.

    Pros

Nalco provides excellent training and development for new employees focused on building relationships with and providing excellent service for their customers. They stand by this and are very respected within the industry.

    Cons

Opportunites are strongly influenced by the "clickish" culture. Therefore, the is very little career development and large salary differences between employees in the same role/ position.

Assist employees with a career development planning.
