    Pros

Great team, wonderful opportunities for making positive impact in a small community, and networking with the larger case management community. Positive role models, pleasant and competent staff.

    Cons

Seaford is a small community that in some ways lacks diversity, but is growing. The commute can be a pain if you do not live in town, but all in all the drive is well worth it.

    Advice to Management

I think it is sometimes easier to continue working with what and whom you know, but knowing when it is time to cut ties can free a team to open to new and positive growth.

I worked at Nanticoke Health Services part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Worked in the ED. Good benefits and fellow employees were great to work with.

    Cons

As a Tech, we were run into the ground. Enormous amount of responsibilities and expectations for this position, with low pay. Management listens, but that same management will be the first to slit your throat.

    Advice to Management

Go spend a full 12 hour day with one of your Techs. You will soon learn that the role that they hold in your ED cannot be replaced, and that this position deserves to be paid a lot more than what they are being paid. And remember to look at each of your employees as individuals, and not simply group everyone together. You have employees that give their all in your ED, and you have some that do NOT. Get rid of the slackers and praise the employees that give 150% of themselves every workshift to make your ED Dept look great.

    Pros

Many of the people are great to work with; they truly put the patient first and care that the patient is treated with dignity, respect and kindness. Most family members are also treated well - given information about what is happening to their family member. The surgical procedures are arranged and done in a very orderly process - meaning you feel that the hospital will do the operation you have agreed to have and that they will be competent and you will be ok afterwards. They are especially good with the OB patients. Everyone is working towards the goal of a healthy baby and mom. The family is made to feel important and security is outstanding for the safety of the baby.

    Cons

Senior Management and Middle management are not good communicators. A potential decision was made to sell our Long Term Care facility and the staff were told the Friday before Christmas break! Decisions are not a process of getting information about process and people; it is bottom line only and this is heart breaking when so many of the staff love the organization and wish for the very best. A large change in management happened and this newest group appears to be the most unfeeling group yet. Schedules are another source of dissatisfaction with staff. Many nurses do not have input into their schedules and are expected to work long days with a larger than normal patient to nurse ratio. New nurses are not provided enough training, they are given a rudimentary orientation and then told to get it done! People are afraid to ask, and people are afraid because they fear retaliation, loss of job or demotion.

    Advice to Management

Take time to walk through the units. Stop rushing through. Listen for the problems that are not people based but because of issues that happen. The nurses and staff that work for Nanticoke care for the patients very much. Additionally, it feels like many deals are made "back doors" and hidden until the last minute. It does not feel like thought was given to the patients and staff but only the financial line. The organization is a non-profit and yet, it's always money. People should count as a wonderful asset. The announcement of the sale before Christmas was an indication of how they value their staff.

I worked at Nanticoke Health Services as an intern

    Pros

I worked with fantastic, experienced professionals, and that made Nanticoke a fun place to volunteer! There is a hospitable, caring culture, and there is no satisfaction like touching lives and helping make people's health care experience that much better. It seems to be a great place to volunteer for all ages, whether you are a high school student, a retiree, or somewhere in between.

    Cons

No cons I can think of!
