I worked at Napa State Hospital full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Government benefits and if you're an ambitious individual who values higher education, take advantage of public loan forgiveness and get yourself an education. The only advantage besides the benefits.

    Cons

Morale is VERY low. Everyone is stuck in the same place because there is no career growth or career ladder. Management is incompetent. They have retired annuitants "running" certain departments. This place made me sick mentally and physically. Its the worst job I EVER had and has traumatized me for a lifetime. Prospective employees PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE APPLYING OR TAKING THAT JOB. This is a place I would not recommend. Management have the mentality of pre-schoolers.

I worked at Napa State Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Awesome clinical opportunities. Also great place to learn how to endure professional harassment and unsafe working conditions.

    Cons

Administration so sick and ineffective that a past director is now imprisoned for child molestation. Around every corner is a new con, a new reason to sue or be sued.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to be better qualified: doctors should run hospitals, not nurses, violent patients, or lying politicians. The community would be better off if this place were permanently closed.
