I worked at National Air Cargo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Employees really want to work hard and help the company be successful. Great medical and time off benefits compared to other local companies.

    Cons

Owner and executive management need to allow thier good hard working employees do their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Trust the employees that really want to work and stop trusting the individuals who are just sitting there doing nothing but complaining and collecting a paycheck. Finally getting rid of all the dead weight who did nothing but take care of themselves, executive/directors management in accounting and sales - those employees did nothing to benefit the company and drove decent employees to quit. No controls or accountability by the owner or executives at the time. Most got promoted because the whined and had seniority and not on capabilities.

    Pros

Close group of people striving to make it a better place to work. Truly want to see the company succeed.

    Cons

No leadership. Executive management has no clue what they should or should not be doing. Sales department is a joke over paid and useless. Need new leadership in operations and sales.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what kind of business you want to be and communicate more with employees.

I have been working at National Air Cargo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employees are treated like part of the team; that their opinion and work that they do matters.

    Cons

Its pretty much a 24/7 365 day a year job..but that's the nature of the job. You know that going in. Training is very fast and out on the floor.

    Advice to Management

    Better training.

I worked at National Air Cargo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of training and support for the job and people were always around to help.

    Cons

A little political but what place isn't. People complained about it but I think they got spoiled and didn't realize how good National is compared to some companies.

    Advice to Management

Be a little more in touch with the little guy.

    Pros

Family owned business with a small company feel.

    Cons

Global organization that can be difficult to communicate across branches

    Advice to Management

Find a way to bridge the global communication gap.

I worked at National Air Cargo full-time

    Pros

Independence to perform job in the best way you saw fit. Reasonable travel program allowed you to travel comfortably. Employees compensated and treated very well.

    Cons

Company is in bankruptcy. Poor support of products dold. High rate of service failures. General attitude of apathy seems to prevail. Revenues are dropping and nobody seems truly committed to turning things around.

    Advice to Management

Take a realistic analysis of the marketplace and gain an understsnding of the significant changes that have occurred. Identify the new opportunities.

Determine a Direction to move the company. Make sure everybody in the company understands it, commit to it, support it and demand commitment from management and employees. Encourage culture of thrift and optimization.

I have been working at National Air Cargo full-time

    Pros

Not many, but I am staying current per the FAR's. The health benefit package is good.

    Cons

Pilot pay is very low, $10 to $15 /hour below industry. Guarantee pay hours per 4 weeks is 50 hours. Way below industry standard. No vacation time. No sick time.
Poor schedules. Trip rig is 3 hours of regular pay, but it starts 24 hours after a deadhead or flight. This works in the company's behalf, and more often then not, a "weeks work" will only have 3 hours of Rig credit time. You actually make more money sitting in a hotel for a week, then you do flying. Flying is very limited, which adds to the difficulty of making money, and staying current is a regular problem...ie: 3 landings in 90 days.

I have been working at National Air Cargo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Frontline employees have pride in their work. The job is exciting and constantly changing. In the middle east office the celebration of events and holidays is uplifting to morale of the employees.

    Cons

Senior leadership can not seem to put together a strategic plan and follow it. Each one is out for their own gain and own direction.

    Advice to Management

The owner is brilliant but he needs a CEO that can cut through the political game play that happens below him. The middle management and workforce have a lot they could share to tell you what would turn things around. You just need to listen to them. They are not disgruntled they are just worried if the behavior of those at the top might lose them their jobs someday.

I have been working at National Air Cargo full-time

    Pros

Great frontline and field workers who help each other out.

    Cons

Management all beating to their own drums. Its now how hard you work its who you know ... and its true in this company.

    Advice to Management

Start paying attention to your customers and how they feel about your business right now. Stop and ask the worker bees what they are seeing as customer needs and how to fix their problems and stop giving your "sales" team a pass and paying them when others suffer.

I worked at National Air Cargo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very meuch enjoyed my team and immediate management. Freedom to do the job.

    Cons

Was defintely a "disconnect" between head office and field operations. It wasn't a situation where things were adversarial, more like the leadership at the C-level seemed to be giving out mixed signals on which strategies to implement, when, and where.
