I worked at National Beef full-time

    Pros

You have a job and that is all I have good to say about that

    Cons

The supervisors treat the employees like dogs! I have even heard them joke about how they treat the employees. They do not value the work the employees do. The plant is extremely dirty with a lack of concern for food safety. QA will allow product to be shipped out for certain supervisors because of who they are. We were extremely short staffed which created bad hires because they would rehire employees that did not need to work back at the plant. If you can fog a mirror you can get hired. The shortage also caused us to work harder and the supervisors to push us further, so we could fill the numbers.

    Advice to Management

Stop only focusing only on your bonus and treat the hourly employees like humans. If you can not take care of the products and employees then you should close the plants like you did in Brawley.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at National Beef full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits were great, time off policies were more than fair. 401k company match was incredible.

    Cons

For the ladies: In this industry, you'll work with men for the most part, & may have to deal with a lack of professionalism. When I first started, there were many more perks than there are now. But the perks were always aimed towards the salaried employees. If you're hourly, you tend to get the short end of the stick....& that really affected the moral around the office among the hourly's. Many hourly employees feel unappreciated because no matter how hard we worked & improved our numbers, (upper) management remained completely oblivious & didn't seem to notice how hard we worked.

    Advice to Management

Now that bonuses and raises are off the table, why not make everyone hourly? Ever since Leucadia took over, many things have changed...and not for the better.
Advice to Management? -- Treat all employees equally, show gratitude or some type of appreciation for the people that truly work hard, and not just base everything off seniority.
