I have been working at National Counseling Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

National Counseling Group is a good company for those who really want to make a difference in the mental health field. The counselors that work here are passionate about changing the lives of those needing support. The supervisors are a great support as the majority of them use to be counselors for NCG as well. The flexibility is a plus because you are not burdened with a 9 to 5 schedule. The biggest pro is that the counselors are really serious about empowering their clients. Most of the counselors are wounded healers. Through their own history of trials and tribulations, they are able to identify what it was like when they needing a helping hand. As they liberate others...they liberate themselves.

    Cons

It is wonderful rewarding work but burnout is inevitable. However the support of the supervisors and management team help to reduce stress. It helps that the management team use to do the same work.
Due to the excessive growth and expansion of the company communication could be improved regarding expansion and structural changes. Growth is a great thing...but should be communicated to the whole company more frequently. However, this is not outside of the norm when an agency is growing at a rapid pace.

I have been working at National Counseling Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Well established and respected company throughout the state. Plenty of opportunities within the company, options for expansion. Can be a dual-job holder to earn extra money. Although it is a Medicaid funded program, there is a promised based salary provided, with opportunity to earn incentive pay. Great working in the school system, because you work on their schedule. You can have the option to be paid over a 10 month or 12 month period (to receive pay over unworked summer months).

    Cons

NCG is a for-profit agency. Very much like a business at times rather than a human service agency.
