    Pros

    Cons

Way too much overtime, but if you're looking for it then it's a plus. Disorganized, how things are done and how you perform changes constantly. It's hard to keep up or feel entirely confident about doing things the "right way". Production environment pushes goals that are unreasonable

I worked at National General Insurance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The benefits and pay is more competitive than all of the smaller insurance agencies. If you’re a drug addict this is probably a great work environment for you

    Cons

The management is trained to break workforce commission laws and be conniving. They exaggerate the compensation in the interview process, commit nepotism by hiring and promoting under qualified family members and close friends over employees and managers who are qualified. The pay is not competitive to other insurance companies especially major insurance companies nor are the benefits. The building is not safe and secure. I knew other employees that would keep firearms in their cubicle and others that consume and distribute controlled substances to others between cubicles. Even to others who don’t even normally do it without their consent. Highly toxic work environment overall. I’ve had several customers call threatening to add more lawsuits to National General current hearings for disregarding the do not call list because the marketing just does not make any sense. If I could leave zero star ratings I would.

I worked at National General Insurance for less than a year

    Pros

The trainer is a very positive, encouraging and enthusiastic person who is an expert on the various roles within the company and they're the only reason why I give this rating two stars.

    Cons

On my first day, I was advised to wait in the lobby while many other new hires went up to the training room and I was told by a manager that they "over-hired". Fortunately enough, several people quit the same day due to various reasons and I was able to stay. My first impression was that the company is very disorganized, even though they've been in business for a very long time. During my training after 4 weeks of being there, I was let go without any prior warning since I was not "grasping" the information being taught, even though I received top scores on my exams and managers telling us in person that “we will work with you’’ if we're struggling with our performance. I did not take it personally since they let go of 3 other people the same day that I did and it seemed at that point they were on a firing spree. A training class of 40 people went down to over 10+ people once I was let go. The facility has limited space and if they're always hiring, then it's usually a bad thing. I did notice poor employee morale and unprofessional behavior such as witnessing gossiping between employees and "subject matter experts", (aka tenured employees who assisted us with our training). I was honestly shocked to witness such unprofessionalism and toxicity in a work environment and it was utterly revolting to watch.

I have been working at National General Insurance

    Pros

A great work environment, if you ignore the petty workplace drama. The people who complain about the workload and unattainable metrics are the ones who spend three hours a day on breaks, or gossiping and complaining with coworkers. Most people start in claims as "entry level," and can build a career with minimal experience or education but let's admit it- claims work isn't for everyone. If you can't manage your time efficiently, and prioritize your workload, you won't make it anywhere. Pros- -a fairly laid-back office, nobody is uptight or stuffy. -management is easy to communicate with, a truly open-door staff -if you are effective at your job, you have a ton of autonomy -good starting pay and benefits -lots of opportunity to change departments, and lots of promotion from within -upper management acknowledges workplace issues, and at least pay lip service to making changes

    Cons

The technology is outdated and makes work more difficult. Changes and updates have not made a significant difference. Processes and claims handling guidelines are changing constantly
