I worked at National Grid USA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Union protection, benefits, wonderful people. I was only there for a contract position but I had a chance to view the atmosphere and general opinions of the employees. Although people sometimes moan and groan, they all realized how they enjoyed working there. It was evident by how many years they were there.

    Cons

You will have to work holidays and the night shift at the beginning.

  2. "Fast paced, collaborative, and inclusive"

    Pros

Colleagues are always willing to lend a hand, no matter their current situation.

    Cons

Occasionally, one may feel as though their responsibilities are not quite related to their expertise and education.

I have been working at National Grid USA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

First company I worked for where layoffs are rare. And when they did occur, they treated employees with respect and dignity. Annual employee surveys are conducted and sincere attempts are made to fix what's broken.

    Cons

Appears to be an overuse of contractors to keep headcount levels down.

    Advice to Management

Excellent communication exists with one exception. More transparency is needed regarding how and why employees advance and can advance to middle and senior management levels.
