    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

5 weeks of vacation per year, sick time, great benefits, 401k, single person health visionfental is cheap, rewarding

    Cons

Low pay for lower level workers (family service workers , teacher's assistant), local level discouraged union activity indirectly. Teachers are expected to have a BA by 2014 yet pay will not be as high as public school teachers receive.

    Advice to Management

With education- severly limted opportunity to advance on local level due to limited number of positions

I have been working at National Head Start full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None really, benefits are okay but there are better ones that could be found.

    Cons

HIGH high-turnover rate, CEO event quit, upper management fails to understand employee needs and lacks training, very little growth, very slow paced, unfair treatment of employees

    Advice to Management

Get management training because a lot of employees are quitting under these managers

    Pros

Nothing I could think of. May be a good place to work if you are 60+

    Cons

    1. Very less pay when compared to other non-profits in the area
    2. The management doesn't care about the employees. Imagine if 8 of your 25 employees quit or got laid off in the past 6 months
    3. The managers have ZERO management experience and are not qualified to be in a managerial role
    4. Bureaucracy and Politics at its best
    5. No Job Security
    6. No growth and you wont learn much once you reach a particular level

    Advice to Management

Change the Directors and create a trust worthy environment

    Pros

I like the benefits but working for a big government agency is well you know, could always be better. Buraucracy at its best!

    Cons

They are always asking you to do things that you may not agree with personally but you have to do it.

    Advice to Management

I would tell them to put people that are more experienced and educated in supervisory positions and to geta little better retirement

I worked at National Head Start as an intern

    Pros

    - great people. very dedicated to what they were doing, even through jokes and complaints the essence was "we're doing this for the children"

    Cons

    - far away from DC?
