I have been working at National Heritage Academies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

NHA puts students, families, and staff at the core of what they do.

You are given lots of opportunities to grow and develop professionally. Leaders are personally invested in each individual on the team and his/her success.

The culture is great. We are given flexibility to balance our work and home life. I have awesome co-workers. We work hard but we have fun too.

    Cons

You work hard. We do more with less on purpose.

    Advice to Management

Continue to always put people first. Our people are our best asset in a way that not many other organizations can say. We couldn't do what we do without our people. Our students and families come to NHA because of the staff!

    Pros

I have worked for NHA for many years. I have seen changes happen time and time again. We are still a growing company so expect lots of changes as you come on board. The staff is friendly. It is a positive environment and NHA has lots to offer to an employee IF you show your dedication and hard work for the company.

    Cons

I personally have no cons -

    Pros

It's great to be part of a growing company with such awesome people to work with.

    Cons

As we continue to grow as an organization, it's tougher to keep the close relationships with all the great people that work here.

I have been working at National Heritage Academies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work at the Service Center in Grand Rapids, MI.
This location is the centralized shared services for all of the NHA Partner Schools.
My experience here has shown me how dedicated everyone at NHA is to the goal and mission of making sure every student succeeds.
I have seen many departments come together and develop creative solutions for schools that are in desperate situations.
I have been involved with creative new initiatives to help make sure our schools have qualified teachers in every classroom.
One of ways we are able to do this is because we are a private company with a very passionate and committed owner and founder.
He is willing to invest in many new initiatives to help each school and student succeed.

    Cons

I don't feel there are any cons of working at NHA directly, however, there are some aspects of working for a charter school system that I wasn't aware of before I joined the organization.
There are some organizations that have a strong dislike for charter schools and feel they are taking away from the traditional education system.
That was hard for me to understand when I see how much everyone at NHA truly cares about our schools and students.
