I have been working at National Institute for Health and Care Excellence full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good staff benefits - carer's leave, NHS pension, cycle to work scheme, flexible working options including working from home

    Cons

Slow to effect change, constant staff changes and management of change due to Department of Health funding cuts. Very hierarchical staffing structure and some senior managers are a bit power crazy.

    Advice to Management

Be a bit more flexible about changes to working methods etc.

    Pros

    * Talented, friendly and sociable people.
    * Flexible/remote working and ample holiday entitlement.
    * Bang in the centre of Manchester.

    Cons

    * Too many managers clearly not managing.
    * Resource-wise, there is a real imbalance of people from one team to the next.
    * There is a culture of nepotism within certain teams.
    * Salary doesn't often reflect responsibility.

    Advice to Management

Manage your people. Manage the workload. Delegate properly. Be transparent. Be fair.

I have been working at National Institute for Health and Care Excellence full-time

    Pros

Working with a decent array of tech, and nice people around too. Central office near piccadilly gardens is also convenient.

    Cons

Political working environment, however, you can remove yourself from this quite easily. Agile ability is smothered by an unagile business.

  6. "didn't like to work here"
