    Pros

Working at National is a great fit for the right people. If you work well independently and are detail-oriented, this is the place for you. Pay is fair. Flexible schedule. Ability to work from home. Overtime opportunities. If you're a socialite who has to have human interaction every 15 minutes, then this is not for you. It is cubicle computer work that requires concentration. Not the most exciting job in the world, but if manual labor is not your thing, it doesn't get much better than this.

    Cons

Overtime is often mandatory, and can get a little overwhelming.

    Advice to Management

Interact with your employees on a daily basis in positive ways - not just when correction is needed. Be a team player. Lead by example.

I worked at National Insurance Inspections Services part-time

    Pros

There aren't many pros. You work inside out of the weather. You have a bare bones benefits package.

    Cons

Constant pressure for "numbers" (production) and absolutely no empathy from management about problems you encounter. There are constantly new procedures added, but expectations for production go up instead of down. You deal with indifferent or incompetent inspectors, who are themselves not paid very well and certainly not trained well.

    Advice to Management

I don't have advice for management. They've been doing things their way for a long time and I don't have a reasonable expectation things will change.

    Pros

If you like overtime they provide lots of that. Except it is manditory.

    Cons

Their production requirements are not realistic. And then to lower someones wage below what people start at is very unfair.

    Advice to Management

Soend one week once in awhile doing your employees job. Don't pic and chose reports. See how realistic that quota is.

    Pros

This is one of the best places I have ever worked. The owners are great people and extremely fair. I've been working for NIIS for 4 years and as long as you do your job there is room for growth. They seem to be constantly looking to advance the employees when you show them that you are dependable and are eager to learn.

    Cons

The negative comments posted by current/former employees on this site

    Advice to Management

You can't make everyone happy. Thank you for doing a great job at trying to accommodate your employees the best way you can.

I have been working at National Insurance Inspections Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are okay with the exhaustion of working the MANDATORY 10+ overtime hours per week you will make enough to pay your monthly bills in one check. They offer health insurance, FSA and 401k if you're lucky enough to find a Dr that can schedule you for 8:00 pm on a weekday or Saturday after 2 which is the only time you'll be free.

    Cons

Everything is fantastic and wonderful for the employees that work there 1-2 years but the moment the owners and upper management realize you've worked your butt off for more than 3 years and its almost time to give you a year evaluation and raise, they begin to endlessly harass you in an effort to force you to quit. Don't worry, if you don't quit, they'll put you on probation and lower your pay to $10 an hour every other month for one ridiculous reason or another. Once you work as hard as you can to get your pay raised again, they'll find another reason to lower it. Don't even think you'll ever make it to being employed with them for 5 or 10 years because if you don't quit, they'll fire you for some ridiculous reason. This place is a Human Resources nightmare. If a former employee hasn't sued them yet, its only a matter of time.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring new people and concentrate on keeping the hardworking and dedicated employees you currently have. Stop trying to force your employees to quit just so you don't have to pay unemployment. If you have employees that have been there 5 years or more, do everything you can to keep them happy. Stop promoting people just because they fit into your little clique of managers and supervisors that pretend not to be offended by the overwhelming smell of too much perfume the owners wife wears.

    Pros

Very encouraging management, fair pay (& the checks DO come in consistently & NEVER bounce) Always an adventure!!

    Cons

Dogs running loose; get to meet quiet a few "nosey neighbors" & police officers (it's really not a bad thing)

    Advice to Management

Keep staying positive and supportive! Occasional (maybe twice a year) offer "update" video classes on construction types, roof pitch & exterior upgrades for each class of home (standard, economy, partial custom, custom, high value, etc)

I have been working at National Insurance Inspections Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k) 2 weeks paid vacation the first year. Management always tries to work with your schedule whether you have school or other things that come up. Paid lunches at least once a month, and donuts are brought in. Bonus incentives given out monthly. Pay is above minimum wage. Monday-Friday 8-4:30.

    Cons

There is lot's of overtime. Even though it's more money it can be a lot.

    Advice to Management

Try and hire more people so there isn't as much overtime.

I have been working at National Insurance Inspections Services full-time

    Pros

The job pays slightly higher than minimum wage, and you get to work inside at a desk. This isn't a customer service position, so you never have to deal with angry customers. Lunch is occasionally catered, and monthly treats are brought it for birthday celebrations. Supervisors and unit managers are very friendly. Work can be completed from home, if the employee is in good standing with management. Schedules can be flexible, although any time lost is always asked to be made up by doing more hours another day, or later on, on the same day.

    Cons

Long hours. The overtime seems nice at first, but it is mandatory and almost perpetual. Considering how highly taxed the overtime pay is, it hardly seems worth it. I've never worked anywhere else where everyone was constantly on edge about their job security. The rate of completed reports is the main focus, and while more details are being required for the reports, the same rate is demanded. Employees are scared to be heard questioning or complaining about the work conditions. I have never worked anywhere else where everyone was so on edge about the security of their job. Supervisors are friendly, but have been accused of being "two-faced" by multiple employees. There is a lot of pressure to perform well. Mistakes are pointed out, sometimes with written warnings, and the employees who are doing well might receive a gift card that month. Raises are rarely given out. I have heard other employees suffering physical problems from the long hours and stress (back, neck, and shoulder pain, weight gain, etc.) but there is no company doctor - meaning the employee would have to take their own time, and pay to see their doctor, without being compensated.

    Advice to Management

I have worked at this company for two years, and the mandatory overtime has been on-going, even before I started, according to employees with more time than myself. The company either drastically miscalculates the labor needed for the amount of reports requested, or they are purposefully making their employees work the extra hours constantly so they are too exhausted to find better jobs. If there is enough money to always be paying out overtime rates, I would think they could pay current employees more, and hire enough workers so that the on-going overtime would not be necessary.

    Pros

decent pay but i guess when you think about it, we probably deserve to be making much more

    Cons

long days but i guess if you really truly look deeply at it, its really the only possible way to get things done.

    Advice to Management

maybe just do things a little bit slower and the workers actually eat during the day i think that would be much better

    Pros

Great place to work. Unlimited overtime, nice managers, catered lunches at least once a month, caring owners that care about the employees, especially during the holidays. Great benefits and pay. I love it here.

    Cons

Not much to complain about. Processing reports all day long does get boring though and we can't listen to headphones while processing reports anymore so it gets a bit mind numbing to listen to keyboards tapping all day.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for letting us know how much you appreciate us and thank you for the donuts, cupcakes and lunches every month.
