I worked at National Kidney Foundation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The newbies are trying to make change but the people that have been there for years prevent it. Started to see some change in process but stopped

    Cons

Horrible management, short staffed, expect you to do a job of four people with a low salary. Employees are not valued, not competitive in anyway. I stayed to long and glad I final left.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to let go of the people that have been there for over 10 years, move to the current century. Listen. Take responsibility, tell the truth

I worked at National Kidney Foundation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Getting to help people suffering from kidney disease and educating the public about their risk factors.

    Cons

1.) They are not transparent about the work schedule. It was labeled a 9-5 position, but there were many nights/weekends where I had to work or go to events. They don't pay overtime and instead call it "flex scheduling" which means they send you home to get rid of the OT. In my opinion, that's not reasonable to ask an employee to take time out of their normal hours without compensating them fairly.
2.) This organization has cliques - beware
3.) Poor training / onboarding process
4.) Lack of communication from headquarters down to each field office

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better, treat them with respect, and compensate them fairly.

I worked at National Kidney Foundation full-time

    Pros

Kidney disease is on the rise. This needs to change.

    Cons

Terrible management. They go behind your back to get information without allowing any input. Makes decisions based on no data.

    Advice to Management

Need to change the CEO. Nice person, not qualified for the position.

I worked at National Kidney Foundation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The NKF does a good job of promotion from within although in some markets this is limited by the size of the office.

    Cons

Field offices are small and staff are expected to wear multiple hats and don't always have the support needed.

    Pros

    The community programs
Potential to do great work with the right staff! National staff very knowledgeable. National programs are awesome!

    Cons

Insecure employees, UNQUALIFIED leadership, individuals promoted that are not qualified for their roles immature staff. No using raised funds to serve community

    Advice to Management

hire leaders that are secure and qualified, don't just get warm bodies

I have been working at National Kidney Foundation full-time

    Pros

Working and interacting with volunteers and patients is nice.

    Cons

    Overall bad management and communication

    Advice to Management

More resources and staff for field offices. Management only cares about numbers and not the people we are supposed to help. Too sales oriented and that turns people off. The organization has too wide a focus.

I worked at National Kidney Foundation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My experience at NKF overall wasn't bad. The atmosphere of the company was pretty laid back and everyone was very friendly. The environment and the people who put in good work. They truly believed in what they did and helping people.

    Cons

Some of the departments were rather clique-y and sometimes different groups kept closely to themselves. Other than that it wasn't too bad working there.

    Advice to Management

Pretty good overall. Hiring and promoting from within was a huge plus he company gets credit for.
