    Pros

Great coworkers & benefits including flex time.

    Cons

Bonus available but you have no control on how much you can earn based on your performance. The same amount for all employees regardless of their effort. More authority should be given to assistants so they don't leave from boredom.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate the bonus program. Re-evaluate the work flow distribution in the underwriting depts.

    Pros

They are fair to their employees and treat them with respect. Nationwide really looks out for their employees and is not quick to lay off valuable assets.

    Cons

Flexibility in schedule, however this depends largely on the department that you are in.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work - we have a great company here and I hope to see it continue to grow just as well in the future!

    Pros

they are really nice people to work for, very laid back atmospheres with nice people. the location is great, it is only 10 miles way fro my house so they drive is not bad. I have worked there for one and a half years and i am very happy. There are some flaws but it is going to be one of the better insurance companies to work for. Previously worked at USAA and this place is much better. better people and better opporunity since the are a smaller insurance company. being smaller makes comunnication generally easier. they are also vey flexible with scheduling

    Cons

some of there processing are kind of bearucartice

    Advice to Management

    hold less meetings

    Pros

Access to senior management is terrific, working environment is first class, training, flexible work program, and commitment to employee engagement is outstanding. The company's associates, for the most part live the values. Leadership is diversifying and growing the business. Great place to work. Free underground parking too!

    Cons

Nationwide Insurance, as parent company is weakening the culture. HR, IT, and Finance systems don't create value; they are taking us back in time. Generally systems are slow and old. Incentive compensation is becoming a joke as Nationwide is moving to a one size fits all approach. Not at all motivating. Too many distractions from parent company.

    Advice to Management

Tie incentives and profit sharing to our performance not Nationwide's. Speed up business applications, and continue to build on a strong culture.

    Pros

Proud to work here. Management supports you, if you are good they notice for the most part. You feel as if you really can move up the ladder. Good compensation package if you fight for it. Flexible schedule and easy time off. Support you when your family needs you. Very very very nice people. Feels secure. Beautiful women!

    Cons

Complacent, slow moving, a little political. Management is sometimes missing from the scene.

    Advice to Management

    Promote me, I'm awesome.

    Pros

Ability to move within the company for new opportunities
    Benefits
    Opportunities to learn more skills
    Managers push you for success
    Many locations

    Cons

Pay seems to be below what one can find outside Nationwide
Employees are able to move up from within the call center sometimes leaving abilities lacking in IT

    Advice to Management

Understand that throwing bodies at a situation does not fix it. Employees should not be moved simply to appease a staffing model. Otherwise, management does a great job empowering and engaging the associates.

I have been working at Nationwide Financial full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They value you individually as an employee. They provide you with all of the recipes for success. Your advancement is completely up to you; in a world where nothing comes to you for free, you'll want to have a driver for more if you're trying to advance. Dress and work for the position you want, not the position you have.

    Cons

Introductory pay may not be as sufficient to current financial needs, dependent on the person, but the room for growth far exceeds any initial benefits. If you don't stand out as an employee or as a hard worker, you may be in jeopardy of moving up. Also, it seems the only real way to get offered an introductory position is through a contractor.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management? Maybe focus less on politics and focus more on the employee putting in the hard work. I've seen some instances where people are getting paid drastically more and aren't as capable or hard working as their peers.
