I have been working at Natural Bridge Caverns part-time

    Pros

Fun place to work, great people, easy job, decent pay, and new experiences every day.

    Cons

management sometimes can have poor communication with employees, and guests are difficult to deal with.

    Advice to Management

communicate with employees a little more.

I worked at Natural Bridge Caverns full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you work during the off-season and arent a total weirdo, you'll have a fine time moving into whatever department you want as long as you work hard and kiss the right a§$es.

    Flexible schedule

    Cons

    Repetitive

Sexist, may have gotten better now that it's corporate.

    Its gone corporate

    Often very weird coworkers

Minimum wage with no hope of making a real living there

Will COMPLETELY overtake your life in the summer

Very long days, i'd make up a hard obligation you have to leave @ 4:30 for if you want regular 9-5 hours

Basically not a job for anyone who needs to support themselves.

    A lot of teenagers

    Advice to Management

Pay the adults that work there real money

Stop hiring people who are completely socially awkward

I worked at Natural Bridge Caverns part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Giving tours is super fun
The employee community is super fun and friendly
    Managers are friendly

    Cons

Pay is low. You start out at $8/hr and then get a 25 cent raise per tour you know.
Hours are long. This is better during the off season when you only have to work like 9 hours a day, but during the summer it can be 13 hours a day.
    The work is tiring.
No breaks other than a short lunch break.
Doesn't have shifts so you're there all day.
    Management is pushy.

    Advice to Management

    Take care of your staff.

I worked at Natural Bridge Caverns part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working for a family business has benefits. Management is personal and flexible.

    Cons

Working conditions were hard to justify. Kids shouldn't work 12 hour days in the middle of summer with only a 30 minute lunch break. The pay was minimum wage, but there were small raises every spring and summer for good employees.

I'm not against hard work, but looking back, I think there were a lot of archaic management practices that place little value on the employee and treat them as expendable at best.

I worked at Natural Bridge Caverns (Less than a year)

    Pros

You learn good communication/education skills plus experience in food/retail depts. Tours can be fun if the crowd is willing to cooperate and learn about geology. Good if you like to teach. Owners are nice.

    Cons

Management can be extremely disrespectful, tour guides also do everything from picking up trash around the property to retail/cooking food to random jobs when they aren't giving tours so you aren't in the cave half of the time. Long days (8:30am to around 7:30pm) in the summer. It's a lot of work for little pay.

    Advice to Management

You wouldn't be short staffed if you didn't treat your tour guides like crap.

I worked at Natural Bridge Caverns full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great for a high school and young professional looking for work. Training for the cave is pretty comprehensive and after a few tours you'll be able to give your speech in your sleep. Fun environment to work in.

    Cons

Can be tiring being on your feet all day. And as in any service where you're in front of customers often there can be very rude guest at times.

I worked at Natural Bridge Caverns full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is a great place to begin your career. I worked here as a high school student I learned a lot of lessons that I have used throughout my career. If you stick with it, you can gain experience in many different fields.

    Cons

Long hours during the Summer/Holidays, not much room for advancement since this is a family owned business
