I worked at Natural Markets Food Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Slightly better than unemployment. Natural Markets was a paycheck - nothing more, nothing less. Some original staff were more customer/food oriented.

    Cons

It was mentally challenging to come in to work each day, and deal with senior management who were wildly incompetent, and yelled their way through ever issue they created.

    Advice to Management

Clean house of senior management. Try to recruit management with a degree of true class, competence, and intelligence versus yes men.

    Pros

A poor history but a bright future. The CEO is finally correcting course but it is often too much change at once and allows issues to fall through the cracks or be miss managed. Generally disorganized as a result of rapid change but I did see that as part of the growing pains which makes it easier to deal with.

    Cons

Constant change in procedures as well as staff.

    Advice to Management

It is better to do one thing right than multiple things wrong.

    Pros

I started at this company a little over two years ago. I have learned a lot about the grocery industry and, more specifically, gained experience in perishable departments. The team at the store local to me is wonderful

    Cons

This is a company that has gone through much upheaval in my limited career with them. They cannot seem to get a one hive mind about anything. Their marketing efforts are abysmal, especially in comparison to other local grocery stores in the area.

    Advice to Management

I worry about the long-term success of the company and advise going away from strictly organic/natural products and introducing more conventional product to the market. Marketing should be the major focus, especially considering how new the company is to the region. The company needs to work to make their name recognizable among all of the rampant competition.

I worked at Natural Markets Food Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I don't know if there are any pros except from the good view of the river from the office and free food from vendors sometimes.

    Cons

This company is financially struggling, closing stores left and right. The new CEO is clueless and the HR department controls everything. Stay away and don't be fooled. They have hired a lot of people recently but laid them off eventually. They don't pay vendors on time. They have some sketchy things going on trying to avoid the unions. There is no room to grow at all in this company and the people are just terrible. Extreme favoritism and does not have any pay structure at all whatsoever.

    Advice to Management

Revamp the entire leadership team and replace them with people who really cares about the company and not only about their paycheck.

    Pros

For those still working for this awful run company there is still a pay check. In terms of redeeming qualities in my opinion - there was nothing.

    Cons

Cannot increase sales so letting employees go week after week. Long term employees having their pay cut. Pricing issues remain a major issue. Products are over priced and easily purchased at many other stores for cheaper prices. Quality is not there. Customer service is non-existent. The HR leader is very unethical. Use of third parties to do the work of highly paid leadership is out of control. Selection of vendors are suspect at best...read between the conflict of interest lines.

    Advice to Management

You have let a lot folks down. Time to self reflect and take accountability.

I worked at Natural Markets Food Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Strong benefits package, friendly coworkers, great team spirit and competitive salary. The company and Senior leadership truly cares about their employees and wants to see them succeed and grow. The management team communicates well with team members at all levels and sets clear and reasonable expectations.

    Cons

While there has been some turn over with staff, that is to be expected during periods of change and growth.

I worked at Natural Markets Food Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Sadly there really are no real pros. Unstable environment, expensive benefits and incompetent management = poor working conditions.

    Cons

Layoffs happening every week, never know when you will walk in and be told your employment has abruptly ended with a small severance or the lucky ones (not really) have the option to take a demotion to include pay cut. Leadership continues with false propaganda to work harder and harder with less, yet they still do little to coach and mirror the mission they preach. Trust is non-existent and no one believes in senior leadership, just trying to find a new job before their livelihood is terminated.

    Advice to Management

You are failing all your employees, your legacy to date is you have closed more businesses than you have opened. Not one initiative rolled out has resulted in improvements. Maybe give back some of your salaries to keep pay check to pay check employees able to feed their families - how about that as advice?
