I have been working at Natural Retreats full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun work environment and insane benefits. I have been at NR now for 4 months and have had a great experience getting settled with a new company in a new location. I consider my coworkers my friends and the leadership / management teams have shown great support and flexibility to help make my transition smooth. Casual office environment and focus on collective teamwork between departments.

    Cons

Having to choose between so many awesome locations to work and vacation :)

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. Keep listening to your employees and rewarding their efforts. The proof is in the pudding - You all lead by example and have fun doing it...It's easy to respect leaders who contribute at every level and measure success beyond just "The Numbers"

    Pros

Understanding team and work environment. Good incentives. They really take care of their employees.

    Cons

It is a growing company so they still are working out some kinks.

I have been working at Natural Retreats full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great people, good benefits, lots of potential for professional growth. Most of the older negative reviews on Glassdoor were accurate at the time, as there were a number of problems caused by the company's extremely rapid and somewhat chaotic growth. Early in 2018, new executive management refocused the company which did unfortunately lead to the elimination of a few positions but was necessary to ensure the health of...

    Cons

There is a serious lack of documented policies and procedures, which becomes less excusable as the years pass.

    Advice to Management

Continue with the goal of increased transparency. It's been a while since we had a status update. Make it a priority to document company policy and to develop some kind of predictable salary increase structure.

I have been working at Natural Retreats full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Natural Retreats was the brainchild of an extraordinary entrepreneur. In a little under five years, the US division of the company grew more than 450%. While this “dream big” mentality did not always produce the intended results, it allowed us to build a distinctive business model in a highly competitive industry. It would be dishonest to say it was a smooth journey, devoid of missteps and errors. When you’re sprinting...

    Cons

Positive change moves more slowly than one would like. However, that is true most anywhere.

    Advice to Management

Focus on engaging with staff more regularly. Even if you don't feel you have anything important to say, frequent communication gives Team Members the chance to see and hear you. It humanizes you - allowing staff to feel connected to the larger company and providing them with a forum which empowers them to develop the open, transparent communication for which you advocate.

I have been working at Natural Retreats full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

I've seen this company go through its share of evolutionary stages. I would say it's in it's most exciting stage yet. The opportunity lies in its size, the level of responsibility it trusts with its employees and the effort to promote within. The benefits are generous and thoughtfully weighed - between trips to our destinations for familiarization and Professional Development, they do a good job of keeping their employees...

    Cons

It's definitely a younger company with its own set of challenges - but is forever ironing and tackling them as they come. With a vast scale of ongoing changes, some things can take longer than desired or take extra initiative to resolve.

I worked at Natural Retreats full-time

    Pros

Benefits are decent as is the vacation time.

    Cons

Don't expect a pay raise for your hard work. Excessive hours if you're on salary. Be forewarned! An immature reservations department that favors homes they like ignoring others and without effective sales leadership. Excessive hidden fee's to guests and high commission splits with homeowners. A CEO that has never been in the PM business, doesn't get out into the field or even address the field managers. Shameful! Working...

    Advice to Management

Look within folks. You have VP's with NO real industry experience. A fishing guide? A reservation agent? An office supply manager? Your reservation agents do not receive effective training, and your results show it. Try following through, and lead by example. Hire INDUSTRY people that know what they are doing. Your ship is sinking.......

    Pros

Great people. Great atmosphere. The company is a young growing company that has great potential. I worked in the finance department and have been there for several years through all the ups and downs. The department has grown and changed for the better. With new leadership I feel that the department will only continue to get better and stronger.

    Cons

Lack of documented policies, but working on that currently.

    Advice to Management

Continue to trust the employees and encourage the collaboration between sites and central offices.

I have been working at Natural Retreats full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Natural Retreats is an employer that cares about its employees. Recently there has been 100% turnover on the executive team, bringing in a new CEO and CFO. These changes are alleviating a lot of concerns from current and past employees. The company is rebranding itself to be the premier luxury vacation rental company and with this, rebranding its internal culture to that of employee well-being, growth and engagement....

    Cons

There is still a lot new management needs to do to clean up the messes of their predecessors. Compensation is not competitive and tends to be at or a bit below market.

    Advice to Management

Keep moving upward with the changes. Listen to your employees and engage them during the rebranding process - your employees know the company best.

    Cons

This company is currently being reorganized, again. It happens every 6 months. new managers reinventing the same old stuff that was done 6 months ago. everyone so afraid they will lose their job on the next round. everything hushed more and more work to less and less people

    Pros

Good Benefits. They were fair in the severance package when releasing the members of the staff they released.

    Cons

A corporate company that bought a local company and released local employees to out source jobs.
