I worked at Nautilus Insurance full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pretty building and mostly genuine and nice staff.

    Cons

100% agree with the review below - if you are an ID or an e-learning specialist - BEWARE. My experience working for the training manager was a nightmare. Felt constantly mistreated verbally, undervalued, demeaned, given job tasks Way outside of scope, and my ID/e-learning professional experience/advice ignored. 'Gossip and tattling’ made the position and work environment more challenging. Credentials that spell out the alphabet don’t always indicate excellence in a manager. Nor does it make them someone you want to work for - which I feel is a huge part of enjoying your job. In my opinion certain acronyms like MM (micro manager), NP (nit-picky), OC (over-controlling), DO (discouraging others), DM (de-motivating), PH (power hungry) should be avoided and until Nautilus makes a change they'll continue to see lengthy hiring processes, unhappy employees, and high turn-over in that department.

    Pros

Coworkers are friendly. Audit team is awesome! The HR team was very helpful and considerate and Promoted innovation. Coworkers and T&D officer are very knowledgeable about E&S Insurance.

    Cons

From the get go, I felt under appreciated. During my interview, I was expecting my comp to be on the lower end of the offer posted, but my future boss told me I was too inexperienced (even though I have a Masters and multiple years of ID) and offered me $8,000 lower than the post (but I took it because I was desperate). My responsibilities did not match my job description at all. While I was told I’d be designing courses, I was mainly rewriting instructor led courses for wbts. This is the job of an edesigner, not an ID. The Training and Development management was very passive aggressive when it came to disagreement. When we wouldn’t agree on information, management would change my work, but never address it. Additionally, lack of respect showed up various times. There was a huge lack of knowledge within training, and the department seemed to have a small budget, especially for ongoing development. When we launched a huge project, very little recognition was given. Their training team was very small and management added difficult goals to deadlines even if the first deadline was impossible. There was some hostility between the T&D team and the Marketing team (again, due to management’s passive behavior).

I have been working at Nautilus Insurance full-time for less than a year

    Pros

While I just started with Nautilus a week ago, the honesty and integrity this company holds has already blown me away. My teammates are incredibly supportive and kind with knowledge to share. In addition to the amazing team, leadership here is unlike anything I've experienced; they know what they're doing and look out for the employees above all else. While a manager was let go within my first week, the VP of SI and acting CIO openly and honestly expressed the situation with the entire team and ensured that everyone was able to voice their thoughts on the situation, including myself. An absolutely unique moment, to be treated as one with leadership!

    Cons

Nothing. The company has something truly great, here.

I have been working at Nautilus Insurance full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

PROS: Consistent profitability, good communication, excellent benefits including competitive salaries, operates at all levels with integrity, a handful of truly outstanding leaders, high expectations and accountability, regularly gives back to the community, very nice building, friendly and helpful employees and plenty of opportunities to advance if you are willing to work hard.

    Cons

CONS: Some challenges with technology and a fair number of open positions (though much of it is due to growth). Not the place for you if you want to fly under the radar or mail it in. Also not the place for you if you don’t readily accept change or aren’t willing to give 100% every day.

I have been working at Nautilus Insurance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nautilus Insurance is truly a remarkable place to work. They are well thought of in the insurance community, take excellent care of their employees, and give back to the community. The company has been around 30+ years but continuously grows and is an instrumental player in the E&S space. I would recommend this employer to any of my professional connections!

    Cons

I would say the only con would be that its a fast paced, high expectation environment. The company expects a lot out of their employees and its not for everyone. However, you are rewarded for your hard work and dedication!

    Pros

Telecommuting! Everyone is very nice and helpful. Claims department has turned around for the better since new management came on board! Thank you!

    Cons

I really can't think of any! Maybe allow 3 days of telecommuting instead of just 2. I feel that since we have remote workers in different states, what's the difference if an employee in state gets 3 days?
