    Pros

    Great opportunity for advancement if you have management support. I held a position with an interesting variety of responsibilities. Great federal benefits.

    Cons

    Like any job, your happiness and success are largely dependant upon management. I had good management, but I knew others who didn't.

    Advice to Management

    Remember to value your employees.

    -Highly focused on a mission with meaning supporting the American warfighter.
    -Robust job opportunities in numerous technical fields.
    -Opportunities for rotation within overall command.
    -Excellent employee support through training, education, and growth opportunities.

    Cons

    -Remote rural location, however easy access (30min) to Bloomington, IN, where Indiana University is located.
    -Services on the installation (food, gas, etc...) are limited.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to focus on quality of work/life improvement initiatives.

    Pros

    Flexible hours, good pay, great benefits, holidays and communities of interest are all pros. It also gives you a sense of service.

    Cons

    The morning and afternoon traffic is pretty rough. Getting in early helps with traffic on both ends of the day.

    Keep working hard and doing a great job!

    Good work/life balance. Great managers

    Improve on the technical leadership. . Management tends to implement too many technical suggestions when they are not necessarily the best ideas. Not all ideas can co-exist.

    Not all ideas are great. Improve on technical leadership. Constructive criticism can be positive while fostering the new generation to think critically at the same time.

    Working at NSWC Dahlgren is a fantastic career move and opportunity. There is a vast amount of diverse and exciting projects that go on all the time.

    Cons

    The city itself is extremely small and might necessitate a long commute if that is not your thing.

    Very friendly, very helpful and I learned a lot in the 22 weeks I spent there.

    Cons

    If you do not have a car, the bus works. But you are stuck to a bus schedule for your work schedule.

    Pros

    Excellent starting salary for Engineers. A lot of upward mobility for those interested. Projects are interesting. I love my job.

    Cons

    No place is perfect. Sometimes it seems management does not have a clue, but that's probably true in many places and maybe just my perception.

    Advice to Management

    Come out of your comfort zone and go out and visit your sponsors, see what is changing out there.
