    Great place to work

    Jul 16, 2020 - PC/Network Technician

    Pros

-Friendly family like environment. -Lots of people have been there a long time so theres not a lot of turnover in the back office -I had a great group of co-workers in my area who really helped mold and shape me into who I am. -If you're willing to learn there is always opportunity to advance.

    Cons

-Kind of a "clicky" organization -little room for " change" or "growth".... very set in their ways (which to be fair work, but it would be nice to see some changes in technology and culture overall) -If you make the wrong people mad it could limit your career growth.

Very low pay & little advancement opportunity

Oct 18, 2019 - Retail Banker in Smithfield, RI

    Pros

Some of the managers I had were excellent. Some really care about trying to help you grow and meet your goals which was nice. Employee meeting can be fun and some of the prizes are good.

    Cons

People mostly get promoted by who they know and not always by how hard they work. Also there is very little opportunity for advancement. They will either hire externally or they will promote from within and give minimal increase in pay. Some of the people I worked with were great at the branches, but the back office was very “high school” with a ton of people who would talk behind others backs and cause drama. It’s a small credit union so everyone knows everyone. This can be a blessing and a curse. The pay is very low compared to other banks I worked in. You can actually make more money working in the branches if you meet your sales goals & work OT, but it can be stressful working 6 days a week and also having to deal with meeting your sales goals that are mostly unattainable. This place used to operate as a credit union, but as the years have gone on it has turned more into a bank with the sales culture and having to meet goals in order to get promoted or get a good review. Overall I would say it wasn’t a terrible place to work but it needs improvement. They love to brag about “winning the best place to work” for consecutive years in a row and that’s only because they make you vote for the company and the competition in RI is very minimal compared to other states.

    Pros

Amazing company to work for, really cares about their employees.

    Cons

Got boring as a teller, also not much places to move up in the company unless you are looking to work desk-side.

Not as great as they claim

    Pros

Good benefits, good work and life balance. Corporate office is a nice modern building in which to work. Good name in the community.

    Cons

Very few advancement opportunities unless you work in the branches. Office jobs rarely include the opportunity to get promotions or merit bonuses. It's all about retail branches at Navigant.

Not all bad, for a bank

    Pros

-Good benefits for full time employees (no health insurance for part timers) -Time and a half on Saturdays -Lots of employee engagement and a killer annual meeting with lots of prizes.

    Cons

-No flexibility in scheduling and little respect for work-life balance (I work 29 hrs and they make me work 5-6 days a week). All the full timers I know work six days a week. -Short staff -Policies and procedures are very "small bank", very minimal back office support. -Definitely going through some growing pains as they transition to a medium-sized institution. -Outdated policies for dress code...require tattoos to be covered with band aids and strict rules about hair color. -It seems that promotions and hiring are based on who you know, not what you do.

    Pros

Very much a family, but this feeling is slowly diminishing with all the changes being made. 401K match and benefits are great. They really appreciate their employees and show this appreciation often.

    Cons

The pay is very low and it is almost impossible to get a raise at your yearly review. Even when asking for a raise based on exceeding expectations it rarely happens. There isn't much room for growth after you've made it to the back office. Every time a new job is posted it is a lateral move with no pay raise.

    Pros

Very welcoming family. Everyone is willing to help and really make you feel at home. In my opinion, a great place to start a career or to end one.

    Cons

Unfortunately, there is not much room to grow in this company. You can move from side to side by never up. It is a small credit union which is still developing and continuing to grow.
