I have been working at Navigant full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

depending on what you do, you may be able to work from home

    Cons

salary increases are paltry, very poor IT capabilities, bonus payment methodology is a black box and are insufficient, alot of corporate double speak about career development, and lip service to diversity

    Advice to Management

pay your employees a little better and trim the fat off the inefficient corporate level management

The people that you work with
    The exposure to clients
Work life balance for a consulting company is good

    Cons

Salary is low compared to similar firms
    The bonus is a joke
The culture has been lost, it use to be a great place to work but now it seems that management does not care about peoples career, goals and to retain them, really sad

    Advice to Management

I would take very seriously internal reviews and try to retain talent that is flying away

    Pros

Fun, approachable co-workers; can often take on additional responsibility

    Cons

Low pay (particularly taking hours worked into account); siloed practices / sub-practices; rigid promotional structure; inconsistent corporate message.

I worked at Navigant full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Paid more than any other job I'd had before

    Cons

Insane workload yet still expected perfection, I was even told several times that I had to be superwoman to do this job yet no steps were taken to help fix the situation, had unrealistic timelines, coworkers both within my department and especially outside my department can best be described as "cold" so the culture is terrible. Worst job I've ever had, didn't even stay a year.

    Advice to Management

There's fast-paced and then there's light speed. Slow down a little.

    Pros

NCI has a great technology practice supporting individual projects as well as projects from other segments. The staff is dedicated and very knowledgeable.

    Cons

Senior management doesn't support and encourage staff. Firm has relocated the NY office and shrunk employee space and reduced privacy. Mid-level staff and lower are working in a bench-like environment.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your managers, trust them, encourage growth and support staff. Shrinking staff space doesn't help moral or the work get done. A cost cutting effort that affects junior staff to the benefit of senior management.

    I worked at Navigant full-time

    Pros

Good entry level jobs to gain experience in healthcare billing. Competitive salaries for entry level jobs of this area. Good work life balance.

    Cons

Soon as you get your experience get out. The company grew fast and middle management does not have experience to make good business decisions. They drive away the good employees and embrace the toxic ones.

    Advice to Management

Unprofessional team leaders make a very toxic environment.

I worked at Navigant full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers can be a joy to work with if you have the right ones.

    Cons

Benefits are bad. Every office does its own thing with no central policies and communication of any changes does not exist. You learn by making the mistake and then spending hours finding out why what you'd previously done for years no longer works. Also a gossipy, backstabbing environment.

    Advice to Management

Centralize your policies so they apply across the board in every office, don't leave it up to the OM to decide. Get a better benefits package with better raises and bonuses which were below market standard.

I worked at Navigant full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best part of Navigant is the people. Everyone is very outgoing and friendly. There are many opportunities to participate in social events. The office is great - lots of windows and modern set up.

    Cons

Very poor communication in terms of staffing. Often times, consultants have no project to work on, and are told to work on menial tasks such as highlighting documents or printing and binding papers all day. If you aren't staffed on a project, you are then penalized with a low utilization, even if you are actively seeking work. No sense of support from upper level management. Directors and above play favorites and staff these favorites before others who clearly deserve the opportunities more. No responsibilities and no room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Utilize your employees by giving them challenging work and ramp up staffing efforts
