I have been working at Navigant full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Better work-life balance than most consulting firms
    2. Office culture
    3. Ability to work remotely
    4. Competitive vacation and sick time
    5. Delegated to specific types of projects so it is unlikely to be pulled onto a project about which you know nothing
    6. In-depth exposure to many aspects of life sciences - med device, biopharma, etc.

    Cons

    1. Salary is 25-30% below market value and salary growth is close to nothing year-over-year unless a promotion is involved.
    2. Substandard bonus program. An above-average performer can expect a ~7-8% annual bonus.
    3. Non-competitive benefits. Tuition reimbursement is the tax limit ($5,250 annually). 3% 401K match where 6% is now the competitive standard.
    4. Attrition rate in life sciences division is above average (not enough is done to incentivize great talent to stick around)
    5. There are only 6 levels in the company so growth opportunities are limited and one has to be in a position for at least two years before even being considered for a promotion, regardless of performance.

    Advice to Management

Navigant is a B-level consulting company making strides to reach A-level. In order to do that, management must hire A-level people...but those people expect A-level compensation and thus begins a vicious cycle. My advice is to start paying competitively and make bigger strides to incentive great talent to stay.

I have been working at Navigant full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great vision and diversity/inclusion initiatives. Good benefits. Good if you are a Sr. Consultant or above.

    Cons

Same problems most large companies face - Top executives don't really know what's going on with the "little guys," Managing Directors are expected to be treated like royalty, entitlement based on title/role. Administrative staff is treated like second class citizens, despite the efforts of management to make compensations - but the reality is admins aren't as important as "billable" employees (even though they are the glue that keeps everything together). Administrative structure is strange and there aren't opportunities for much growth or movement. Accounting needs an overall attitude adjustment and billers deserve more recognition and appreciation for their hard work.

    Advice to Management

All employees should be treated more as equals and there should be more employee recognition (all levels). Admins should be assigned to support practices rather than the operations umbrella. Many administrative assistants feel out of the loop.

Facilitate growth among the younger staff
