    Pros

Fast paced team environment with people that genuinely care about the company and their products.

    Cons

Fast paced! Which is mentally engaging but can wear on you if you let it.

    Advice to Management

Keep working and striving to find the right balance.

I have been working at Navistar full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Surrounded by very intelligent people - for the most part. Work life balance is good, if you are able to stay on track. Easy to get noticed by upper management. Due to previous 'conditions', management is always on the lookout for people who they can count on; you will get plenty of opportunities early on.

    Cons

Attitudes of some workers just WILL NOT improve. Everyone in the company is familiar with the situation and the impact it's had on the business. Few employees maintain this piss-poor attitude and try to rub their negativity off on others—get over it, this gets us no where.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what your doing. A higher level review of the long time employees could do a world of good. Get rid of those damn dark clouds they continue to fuel.

I worked at Navistar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Top-notch office facility, particularly if you are lucky enough to work in one of the front buildings. The engineers are hidden in the less plush back buildings.
    - World class gym
    - Plenty of young professionals, a rarity in the auto industry
    - Convenient Metra access for those who wish to commute from Downtown Chicago

    Cons

    - Rampant layoffs do not help employee morale
    - Dysfunctional HR, policies keep changing
    - Top heavy organization
    - Promotions are practically non-existent, particularly below the senior leadership level

    Advice to Management

Reduce the number of management layers. Too much of a gap between the lower level employees and senior leadership.

I worked at Navistar full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I had a clean lunch room, but that the end of the pros.

    Cons

If I put you in a room full of unhealthy people you will not make them healthy, they will make you sick.
Working at "Negtivestar" is like walking through a mind field, with bombs that are packed full with deadly explosive anger, and every day they bury the anger bombs in a different location.
Unhealthy people hate healthy people. As a newcomer you will be happy and well adjusted, and due to this they will hate you. Beware if you should make a mistake as they will fire you. The tension is so thick there you can cut it with a knife. "Negitivestar" had to install bullet proof glass in the Bellwood location and electronic locks in the other locations because there are so many angry former employees attempting to get even with them. The also have a bad engine design and the solution
to the problem of emissions is just another a bad idea on top of other bad ideas. They have lost all their good engineers and they absolutely refuse to listen any other ideas from the employees.

    Advice to Management

Don't bother to give advice to management because a wise man doesn't need it and a fool wont heed it. Wisdom is a language they do not speak there. I would give them no stars at all, however this program will not allow me to go that low !

    Pros

Steady Paycheck, Clean carpeting and bathrooms.

    Cons

Instability. Company hasn't been profitable in many years. Layoffs are frequent. Management cannot be trusted.

    Advice to Management

Be trustworthy. Treat employees with respect. Hire women and minorities to shake things up a bit. The company cannot change and grow if you keep hiring and promoting white males.
