I worked at Navy Region Northwest (Fleet & Family Readiness) part-time

    Pros

It was great working under Michelle, be straight with her and she treated you right.

    Cons

If you weren't in the in crowd with the head of the resort, be careful.. No one ever seemed to do more than they needed to scrap by keeping the job. No one ever really helped one another unless they had to by a supervisor. (Making sure that things were stocked and ready for the next day, making sure their garbage was in the trash can and not all over the ground so maintenance have to pick it up)

    Advice to Management

Give a little more recognition for persons that go the little extra without having to be told to. Go the extra and have stuff ready for the next day before you leave cuz you never know what ________ can pop up when you're not ready.

I worked at Navy Region Northwest (Fleet & Family Readiness) full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Your work makes a read difference for service members and their families

    Cons

Supervisors and managers have extremely poor soft skills and don't take care of their employees

    Advice to Management

Hire people in management positions who know how to motivate and appreciate excellence in their employees, not just those who know how to fill in the right forms and understand governmental procedures. Morale is horrible among employees. What keeps them going is helping military families.

I have been working at Navy Region Northwest (Fleet & Family Readiness) full-time

    Pros

    - A large varying workload cultivates a diverse birth of experience in a vast array of areas. - Due to the size and scope of the company, there is great potential for career advancement. - An active training program to advance your career, both personally and professionally. - As well as several social programs that you have access to that you can take part in (Mountain biking, skiing, local trips, etc.). - An extremely...

    Cons

    - Once the probation period has ended, short of breaking the law, it seems impossible to be fired from this company (Wait? What? this again...please see below as to why this can be a con) - Incompetence is rife, from entry level to upper management. - There is no job training. You are expected to be a self starter in an industry that doesn't allow free thought. Which is in stark contrast to their strong training programs...

    Advice to Management

    - The industry is painfully aware of it's inadequacies, yet at all levels of management they stimulate a mentality that firing someone is a weakness on the mangers part, rather than the possibility that it could be incompetence or gross negligence on that of the employee. - High personal career growth at the cost of consistency in management is indicative of an unstable and unsustainable industry.
