I worked at Neighborcare Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Everyone who works here is mostly nice, and really live the mission statement. You kind of have to be when working with vulnerable populations.

    Cons

Pay leaves little to be desired. Plus many positions are "float" meaning you have to go to a couple different locations, which can be exhausting.

Community health clinic so, don't expect much of a salary.

I have been working at Neighborcare Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great mission, good co-workers, best patients

    Cons

Low pay, mediocre benefits, high work load, no upward mobility in organization

    Advice to Management

Pls put more money and care into the clinic you currently have rather than keep expanding. Were all running a little thin!

I worked at Neighborcare Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Focuses on the individual patients, good teamwork, appreciative of all employees and very diverse. Clinics are located in strategic areas, including schools, home visits and homeless programs are incorporated in several areas, and their dental clinics are in the same buildings as some of the medical clinics.

    Cons

Not as large as other clinic systems, not enough parking for employees in the parking lots at several clinics, some clinics don't have phlebotomist, policy for patients late to appointment varies depending on clinic.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Small shops provide the opportunity for hands on experience on a variety of technologies.

    Cons

Unfortunately, though the agreement was that I would gain IT experience after paying my dues on the phones, it was not offered to me. They even hired a temp worker to fill in, rather at the bottom, over my head where I could have easily gone next. One of my colleagues was chastised for teaching me how to update a router. It was the most sexist IT environment I've ever worked in and that is saying a lot. I found a dream job where I got more experience in 6 months than I ever would have gotten if I had stayed there.

    Advice to Management

For the company in Seattle with the most nations represented by it's staff, it's a wonder that there is no cultural sensitivity training.

I have been working at Neighborcare Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Relationship between physicians and advanced practice providers (PA-C or ARNP) is very collegial.
Good supervision and friendly atmosphere to consult with other providers on cases.
Management is overall good. Easy to communicate with.
PTO amount is average at first, but quickly can increase with years of service.
    Decent CE policy.
Flexible scheduling and FTE for providers.
Health plan actually has a very reasonable deductible.
FTCA liability coverage is basically an occurrence policy. Alleviates most concerns about tail coverage purchasing if you leave.
Compensation is probably above average for community health.

    Cons

    Occasional frustration with equipment.
    Sometimes difficult patients.
Frequent interpreted visits which adds to time constraints.
High no-show rate. Schedule visits often replaced with walk-in with unpredictable complexity.

I worked at Neighborcare Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Well run non-profit working with an underserved population. Supportive organizational culture. Interesting and varied work allowing for great autonomy. Fast growing.

    Cons

Grant funding leads to money concerns and worries about job security. Management can be quite scattered, not always a professional approach. Volume of work and work environments can sometimes be stressful.
