I have been working at Neiman Marcus part-time

    Pros

The best thing about Niemans is interacting and building Clientele. Also another pro is the discount of course.

    Cons

There's not much to really hate here except it can get really fast paced at time. Other than that I love it

    Advice to Management

The only advice I could give management is better organizational skills. Also, management needs to somehow get better merchandise in this store.

I worked at Neiman Marcus full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun staff, fun managers, nice setting and atmosphere, interesting customers, benefits, etc. (in short, pretty standard for retail, but upscale, so that gives it a nice touch, as compared to other places).

    Cons

Depending on your role, the pay varies (sales vs. non sales roles). Obviously, if in sales, it can vary even more and is really what you make of it. Some sales employees did VERY well (yes, this meant selling a huge amount of products, but at this point, it is really something you either love or don't love to do).

    Advice to Management

None really, my experience was almost always pleasant. They have a pretty good structure in place, in terms of lots of roles for each little niche.

I worked at Neiman Marcus full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice people
    Clean environment
    Relaxed (depending on position)

    Cons

    No overtime
    Lack of growth
    Insensitive management

    Advice to Management

Just work on communication with employees. Those above seem to disregard those below. Concerns should be addressed beyond the ears.

I have been working at Neiman Marcus full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

No overtime, doesn't require any specific knowledge. Easy work.

    Cons

Lot's of physical tasks to do (merchandising the floor, mark downs, changing hangers, etc.) that do not need any knowledge and it spoils all the good feelings of being a manager. Occasionally boring. Working place is in the disgusting stockroom.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to new managers. Coaching, feedback on a regular basis are very important.

"I had a great experience working for Neimans, but didn't see too much room for growth."

    Pros

One of the best reasons to work for Neimans is the fact that they have an amazing reputation for being very fashion forward and carrying a variety of high-end brands- the plus to that is being able to actually afford them because of Neiman's amazing discount!

    Cons

They didn't have the most efficient computer system for keeping track of clients and they didn't have access to email. The only way to send a client at email was to contact them from your personal computer or smartphone.

    Advice to Management

I would definitely consider upgrading the computer system with something that could combine features of email and a program like Microsoft Outlook.

    Pros

There are lots of perks working in luxury retail. We as employees recieve a large discount as well as free clothes and gifts when we hit certin goals.

    Cons

The commission rate is very low and people in our economy don't spend money like they used to 5 years ago. If customers return merchindise the commission is reversed from the sales assiocates, even if the merchindise is damaged or altered.

    Advice to Management

Please change the return policy, there is not a time limit on how long customers can make returns and up to a year to reverse the commission for sales associates.
