I have been working at Nelson Global Products full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Plenty of work. Pays not bad. Its a job.

    Cons

Should listen to more employees views. Just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean it will work on the floor.

    Advice to Management

    Like all of management

I worked at Nelson Global Products full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The first three years were good. I had a good plant manager. We were on our way to change from family owned to corporation.

    Cons

Lack of accountability! New plant manager came in and plant went down hill quickly. Managers not wanting to hold people accountable. Favoritism within certain groups. Rumors of drugs and thugs running the floor. Always hiring temporary employees rather than hiring direct. Low starting pay - get what you pay for.

    Advice to Management

Clean up the plant and offices. Make it appealing to employees and visitors. Get a strong plant manager who will hold people accountable by forcing people to do their jobs.

    Pros

It's a place to brush up your skills as a welder. And not sit at home

    Cons

Pay, insurance, training, and the amount of people I've seen come and go is UNREAL!!!! at least 100 in a years time. New faces all the time. Company is closing the doors by the end of December

    Advice to Management

See you on the unemployment lines

I have been working at Nelson Global Products full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Plant is close to home, 13 mile commute is rather nice

    Cons

High turnover, little appreciation to staff, ongoing financial woes, highly volatile market.
Adjusted 401(k) match to annual - 4 days later announced purchase of 2 businesses.
Known for "up-skilling" staff, allowing them to leave for better companies and wages while training more entry level individuals.

    Pros

Was a international company and provided opportunities.

    Cons

Do not give employees the trust that should be provided.

    Advice to Management

After buying two companies they tried to combine them all without working thru the problems first. In the future you should take the employees opinions into concideration as they are the that do the jobs. Upper management should trust their employees.

I worked at Nelson Global Products (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people getting the work done - but that's where it ends

    Cons

Management is a good-ole-girls/boys network. Massive lack of empathy, listening skills, and ANY semblance of managerial or technical skills. Most were jettisoned from Cummins - Cummins was the lucky one.

Looked like upward opportunities existed, but no longer. Revenues are 70% of revenues 1 1/2 years ago. Bleeding cash.

    Advice to Management

Fire ALL of yourselves, and get back the former executives (which you fired) who knew how to treat people.
