I have been working at Nelson Labs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great culture with friendly environment. The company makes a good effort on team building through company activities. Nice cafeteria with indoor and outdoor seating.

    Cons

Not much opportunity for growth and low pay for a lot of work and stress. Promotions are only given to those favored by management. Depending on the department you could be stuck in the same position for several years.

    Advice to Management

Train Managers to focus on professional development opportunities. Not everyone will be happy doing the same job forever!

I have been working at Nelson Labs full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good co-workers and wonderful work environment. Their vacation policy is nice and there is an on-site cafeteria with fairly good food. The hours are nice and it is a fairly low stress work environment.

    Cons

Company doesn't pay as much as most in the industry so it has a high turn over rate. The work load can be high as a result of the under staffing while waiting for new employees to be hired.

I worked at Nelson Labs part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a fun work environment and everyone is very nice.

    Cons

The job I was offered was not really the one I applied for. Hiring/training process was all over the place.

    Advice to Management

Provide more hours to your part timers and they can actually feel like they're contributing something to the company.

I have been working at Nelson Labs full-time

    Pros

The work you does makes a difference. The atmosphere is fun and supportive most of the time. The work is fairly easy but comes with fun challenges as you move up.

    Cons

The pay is too low and the raises are kind of a slap in the face. I have been at the company 5 years and other companies will start me out at the same wage in entry level positions. Trying to figure out priorities from upper management can be difficult and although quality is something that management wants, they also want you to keep up with the work of 2+ people. It can be a bit overwhelming for this reason.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the people that are putting in the extra work and time and not just the people who are working on projects. Your "grunt" workers are the people who keep Nelson running and without them the whole entire system would crumble.

I worked at Nelson Labs full-time

    Pros

Multiple company events such as watermelon tossing and best-costumes for Halloween
    Everyone is very friendly
The CEO genuinely cares about the employees
"Have Fun" is in the mission statement

    Cons

Some managers were great analysts but are not good at managing
Each department is different. Some departments encourage their employees to attend social events and join company classes. Other departments are focused on productivity so much that managers would discourage you from going to company events instead of working.
High quality work is expected and making a quality mistake can be stressful.

    Advice to Management

Better training for managers and supervisors. Focus on soft skills.
