I worked at Nelson Staffing full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff are friendly now that they've changed management. They also have multiple accounts lined up for me, meaning they are usually on-the-go all day to find us work.

    Cons

My only downside is that I can't stay at most of my assignments due to the fact they are short term, which I'm aware of prior to starting them, but the coworkers I meet and/or the work in doing is so enjoyable and fulfilling for me. So inturn, my cons would have to be the hurt or heartbreak from having to miss the many people I meet.

    Pros

I'm working through Nelson as a temp. I originally applied to 3 staffing agencies and Nelson was the only one who called me back. I initiated the first call, with all three, after submitting my resume. After that I was set up for an interview at Nelson. I received my first temp gig within a week and several offers for interviews for temp to hire and direct hire positions throughout the East Bay Area and San Francisco. After a month I was offered a temp to hire position. Granted it's not permanent work but one often needs a job to find a job and overall I feel very good about my experience so far.

    Cons

As I've stated above I've only been with them a month. The con I'm seeing as a temp to hire is that companies hiring temps can take there time to decide and that can be months even over a year. It's actually in there favor to put it off because they don't have to offer a benefits package, pay unemployment or a 401K. I'm not going to stop looking for permanent work until I get an offer.

I worked at Nelson Staffing (More than a year)

    Pros

Nelson is a company with a support system built in. While I worked there Iwe were allowed to run your desk without being micro-manged, great VP to work with on the Direct Hire desk. Good team of people to work with at the office.

    Cons

At the end of the position - it felt like you were expected to fill every job requisition regardless of the quality of the search in order to make the numbers each month. This was due to a change in the Sr. Management at the time. They have since gone back to the methodology that made Nelson staffing the great company it is and always has been.

    Advice to Management

Keep the expectations real and authentic. Good company to work for.

I worked at Nelson Staffing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really did enjoy my time here. There were some great people that I worked with. I would still be working there but for personal reasons I had to relocate to another state.

I was able to learn a lot about the recruiting world and it really got my foot in the door to this industry.

    Cons

The management was wonderful just not always available. Since they were so good at what they did they were tasked with so many side projects or given new responsibilities that they were not always readily available if you needed them.

    Advice to Management

Give the managers a break, rather than piling on more and more on them let them have some time to focus on their team so they do not feel neglected or ignored.

I have been working at Nelson Staffing full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company- It is a team focused environment where we have an opportunity to change people's lives all of the time. Great opportunity to learn the staffing industry- Nelson promotes from within. We work very hard in a very fast environment but the Nelson culture is family first and making sure we take some time to have fun as well.

    Cons

Nelson has treated me very well- our dependent medical coverage is expensive but medical insurance is expensive everywhere
