Many incentives given, On the road to 5 stars, One on one's with higher management

    Advice to Management

I worked at Nemacolin Woodlands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Beautiful property to work within. You get to develop relationships with some amazing repeat guests and families that visit frequently.

    Cons

The new management team is awful and heartless. Human resources is a nightmare when dealing with real issues. They'd rather just let you go or eliminate a position than actually come up with solutions! No such thing as job secuirty, no matter how long you have been there.

    Advice to Management

Be realistic when setting goals. Be professional. Take your employees seriously when they tell you they have a concern. Don't make them feel so replaceable, have some mutual respect. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians.

I worked at Nemacolin Woodlands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Gave me great customer service experience, met many people from all over the world, Forbes training, internship and apprenticeship, recent increase in pay, decent benefits (spa discount, room discount, golf discount, dining discount, health care) and housing provided if needed.

    Cons

Management needs more training/schooling. Some can be very unprofessional, unfair, and cliquey. Scheduling is very inconsistent. Summer and fall are the busiest time of the year, things die down in winter and slowly start picking back up in spring. You are required to work triples, and schedule often changes throughout the week. Very long exhausted hours when busy.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to what goes on behind the scenes and properly train employees.

I have been working at Nemacolin Woodlands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to get experience in the business. Plenty of opportunities to move around and get experience in different departments.

    Cons

Goals and projects are constantly changing, what may be a clear objective one week may not be the case next week. New executive team and owner has no trust or confidence in existing management. If you take a management position don't get comfortable, you instantly start a timer for when you will eventually be let go.

    Advice to Management

Give your associates the tools to do their job and be open and clear about expectations.

I have been working at Nemacolin Woodlands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Generally enjoyable and dedicated staff. Great place to learn and hone skills needed in the culinary industry towards further careers elsewhere.

    Cons

Sometimes a hostile environment due to co-workers attitudes. People sometimes not caring about the quality of food or time management.

    Advice to Management

Encourage your workers to do well and don't continue to make them feel like they aren't valued and just pushed behind a curtain.

I worked at Nemacolin Woodlands full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You are able to gain a lot of highly sought after experience working for a 5 star / 5 diamond resort like Nemacolin. This experience is not only applicable in the Hospitality Industry, but also in many other industries as well. If you work hard then there are significant financial gains to be had.

    Cons

The level of stress in day to day operations at the property is through the roof. It is difficult to decipher that direction you are supposed to be moving in because it changes quite often. Even if you are achieving the goals that you set out to achieve, this does not mean that your employment is safe. No mater how much time and effort you put in it is never enough.

    Advice to Management

Give the associates the tools that are needed to perform their job to the best of their ability. Offer suggestions on how to improve and get better at what they do. Offer additional opportunities for advancement to avoid associates "stalling out"

    Pros

The resort is beautiful and most of the associates are friendly.

    Cons

The owners are terrible people. They expect you to do twice the work on half the pay. Managers and other salaried staff are always constant targets that get laid off or pay cut. Unless you are looking for an hourly entry level job during school breaks, etc. DO NOT WORK HERE.

    Advice to Management

Treat your managers better, especially those that do go above and beyond to help make this resort successful.

    Pros

Beautiful location and facilities and employee benefits aren't too bad.

    Cons

The owners of this resort employ managers who do not care about their employees. They will use you and work you to the bone for little compensation. If you are willing to do a lot of work (around the clock) for a little bit of money, this is where you should work. the resort facilities and location are nice, but the surrounding area is not so nice.

    Advice to Management

Your directors and management need to be carefully watched, because they are dishonest and ruining this business.
